  1. I'm sure they'll make it back with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I still haven't got FF16 yet, I want to get it eventually. I still wish FF would go back to their old roots of turned based combat and keep the hack n slash in Kingdom Hearts.
  2. My childhood best friend was addicted to playing League of Legends when she was in her early 20's. There were times where she would literally game all day, and barely eat anything let alone brush her teeth, take showers, etc. I went over to her house when she moved back with her mom to our home town, and she didn't want to chill she just wanted to keep playing league of legends. She acted like a child and threw a bit of a tantrum, I was going to head back home but her mom insisted that I stay probably to try and get her off the computer. It was awkward, we didn't do much of anything since I could tell she was wanting to get back to playing league of legends. Her mom eventually kicked her out of the house since she didn't have a job, and her ex boyfriend came from out of state so she could live with him. She eventually got together with another dude, got a job and now she still plays games but she's not as bad as she was when she was in her early 20's. She's 31 right now, so I'm glad she got help for her addiction. Needless to say if you see anyone starting to neglect their health and constantly playing games they're most likely addicted and need help.
  3. I think Nintendo should drop the friend code next generation and have a proper online service. It would make things much easier, you wouldn't have to worry about getting a friend code from someone to be their friend. It's just very inconvenient to have to get a friend code to add people.
  4. Honestly my parents didn't really care what games I played as a kid, of course as long as they weren't rated "Adults Only." I was allowed to play M rated games as a young kid, because my parents could trust that I knew the violence was fake. I played Turok 2 Seeds of Evil at the age of 12, Tomb Raider at the age of 6, etc. I was even allowed to play GTA when I was 14.
  5. Pretty much the majority of Sonic games have amazing soundtracks, but my all time favorite from the franchise is Sonic CD. (I prefer the Japanese soundtrack.) I also love the Legend of Legaia soundtrack, with my all time favorite game track being Cort's first battle theme.
  6. I started playing PC games when I was around 6 or 7 years old. I didn't have a computer, but my cousins did and that's where I played PC games. Of course I only played games targeted towards kids, like The Oregon Trail, Rugrats Activity Challenge, etc.
  7. That's awesome! I don't often play my Switch in handheld mode, which is why I'm content with my original Switch. My spouse has their own Switch Lite since they prefer to play in handheld mode. I'm sure the screen looks amazing on the OLED though! Do you guys play any games together? If so, which games?
  8. I'm hoping I will get Super Mario Wonder and I want to get a Evercade for Christmas as well. I also want the Duke Nukem Collections for the Evercade too. Every other thing I want for Christmas aren't video games, but they're still somewhat related to video games though.
  9. I love platformers and RPGs the most. I prefer to play turned based RPGs over hack and slash, though I don't mind hack and slash. I'm not a fan of rouge like RPGs though where you have to take care of your characters otherwise they my die of starvation. Sonic the Hedgehog is my favorite gaming franchise so I mainly prefer faster paced platformers but I also enjoy playing Mega Man, Super Mario Bros., and Spyro the Dragon. I also enjoy playing some FPS games with Doom being my favorite and Turok being another favorite series of mine.
  10. Definitely Dark Souls III. It took me 15 tries before I defeated the first boss and afterwards, I died around 3 more times so I decided nah that's it I'm done lol. I would love to go back to the game someday, and actually beat it since I barely played it. I knew what I was getting myself into though when I bought the game. Also I just rage quit a Sonic hack last night too, the creators put way too many badniks in their layouts so I kept running into enemies left and right. Also the level layouts were annoying to navigate.
  11. I thought it was cool at first, but then after a while I would get a headache any time I used it. I eventually lost my 3DS and had to get a 2DS since it was cheaper, so I haven't played a 3DS game with the 3D effect in a very long time.
  12. I don't think mobile games are ever going to die. There's lots of people who play games on their phones just to kill some time, so there's definitely a audience. I think they're just going to evolve and get better over time, just look how handheld games evolved over time as technology got better. Plus a lot of indie developers tend to make mobile games before diving into making games for PC or consoles and it's a great way for upcoming devs to get into the scene.
  13. I've never played UNO on a game console, my spouse was obsessed with it for a little bit and they played it on the Switch. I like playing UNO here and there, though I don't think I want to play against random strangers on the internet. I wouldn't want UNO to take up space on my console's storage, I'd rather have the space for other games. I usually don't play video game versions of board games.
  14. I'm more into kart racing games myself. I tried playing Driver 2 when I was a kid but I couldn't get into it. My dad loved the game though, so he ended up playing through most of it. I do like a few racing games like Super Hang On, and I don't mind playing a racing game at a arcade here and there.
  15. I'm bad about not cleaning out my keyboard as often as I should. However, when I do get around to doing so I'll just take a can of compressed air and take my keyboard outside so all the dust and gunk in between the keys don't end up on my floor or in the air in my living space.
  16. No graphics are my least worries when it comes to video games. For me game play, story, and even music comes before graphics. I still play retro games and have no issues with pixel art. I think it's odd that people get hellbent on graphics, video games are meant to be played and sure graphics can help immerse yourself into whatever game you're playing, but if you're looking at graphics before game play or story then IMO you're better off just watching a movie.
  17. I wish Sony would release a new handheld, I was hoping the Playstation Portal would have been an original handheld rather than just a remote play device for the PS5. The PSP did so well and there were many people who preferred the PSP to the DS. However, Sony would have to have a killer game on the handheld to try and compete against Nintendo's Switch.
  18. I think this is pretty cool actually! Sure there's plenty of homebrew that does get released, but to see a veteran game developer make a new commercially licensed game for the 2600 is awesome. I know Atari just released a new 2600 model, so this is perfect timing. I'm sure the gamers who grew up with the 2600 are happy.
  19. It's definitely Pokemon Legends Arceus! For a spin off title, it's a great Pokemon game. Though honestly almost all the Pokemon games on the Switch are tons of fun, minus Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Though to be fair, I never really cared for the original Diamond and Pearl but these remakes are terrible.
  20. Sonic has a dedicated fanbase and I'm part of the hacking scene. It's amazing to see what other hackers have done to not only the old Genesis titles, but 3D titles as well. They even made fan games and some members in the community actually went on to work for Sega and to work on Sonic Mania! The good games outweigh the bad, it's just a shame that gaming journalists don't seem to have good taste in games so there's always someone crapping on a Sonic game even if it's good like Frontiers.
  21. I can't use this service since my Xbox is modded. I got it for free from a coworker a few years ago, so I'm not too upset. I think it's cool that fans brought this service back up for those who still own an original Xbox! It's amazing what fans can do to bring life back into these old game consoles.
  22. Yeah I believe he's talking about flash games since he mentioned Shockwave. My spouse loves playing old flash games, a lot of the ones they played are now on mobile so there's still some people who enjoy these games. For example, my spouse loves the Paparia games and these are all on mobile now. I used to play flash games here and there when I was younger, Teen Titans Battle Blitz was my favorite for sure but I didn't have a computer at home at the time the game was released so I only played it a little bit at my cousin's house.
  23. I don't ever see Nintendo releasing their games on PC. I think they only released some games on mobile since they probably feel that it's not much of a competitor when it comes to gaming platforms. I also think they would be more weary of their games being hacked if they were released on PC, because let's face it Denuvo gets cracked pretty quickly when it's added to PC games. You know how they feel about rom hacks of old games that aren't making them any money, there's no way they'd allow their modern games to be released on the PC for that same reason.
  24. I've tried my hand at making pixel art in the game but I just couldn't make anything decent. I've attempted to make a giant cowboy but it looked bad so I destroyed it. xD I've made Titans Tower at least and it looks decent. I've tried making Sonic, but I do better if there's a grid I can follow. That way I know where to place the pixels at.
  25. Honestly I think they have been overdone at this point, but I feel they are starting to die off now. Sure you still have the big ones like PUBG and Fortnite but I haven't really been seeing new ones pop up within the last two years or so. Right after the success of PUBG and Fortnite in 2018, that's when I started seeing a bunch of other battle royale games come out and try to reach the success that these two games did. This isn't anything new though, in the 90's there were a ton of anthropomorphic animal platformers coming out to try and compete against Sonic the Hedgehog but ultimately couldn't really top the franchise. There were a few good ones like Crash and Spyro of course, but before the 32 bit era all the 16-bit knockoffs just couldn't beat Sonic.
