  1. I do own quite a few retro consoles, however I don't have a capture card to record footage on, so I mainly resort to using emulators for my Youtube channel. I have Retroarch installed on my computer along with a few other stand alone emulators mainly for debugging purposes whenever I work on my Sonic hacking projects. Retroarch is great since it emulates so many different platforms, want to play PS2 games? There's a core for that! Wish to play Atari 2600 games too? Retroarch is there, no need to download a bunch of different emulators! You can easily install new cores from Retroarch's interface too. Emulation is the future, things don't last forever so we need to preserve video games and emulation.
  2. I try not to keep my laptop plugged in all the time. Though the one I main use now is going on three years old, and the battery life isn't that great. The battery stays good for a few hours at most if I'm not playing any games. I recently just got a new desktop and will probably end up gaming more on that then my laptop now.
  3. Games are definitely a great way to distract you from traumatic events going on in your life. Honestly any time I would hear my parents argue when I was growing up, I'd go and play my Playstation to distract myself. Gaming is the best way of escaping from real life's struggles in my opinion. Though of course you might not want to play violent games if you're sensitive to violence and if that's what's been causing your trauma.
  4. I just got the idea of seeing a mix of mini-games based on numerous Stephen King movies. Say if a game was based around Pet Sematary, it'd be one where you have to hide from Gage or Ellie if you're wanting to make a game based on the remake. For IT, you could play as one of the kids and explore a sewage system to defeat Pennywise. There's many other Stephen King films that can be added to the mix as well.
  5. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is one of the games I can continue to come back to and never get tired of it. Likewise with Generation 1 of Pokemon. It's funny since Gen 3 is my favorite, but I find myself going back to Gen 1 more often than the other generations for some reason. Legend of Legaia is another title I see myself coming back to constantly, I really wish this game would get a remake someday. 😞
  6. For me it's definitely Mighty No. 9. I had hoped this would indeed be an amazing Mega Man successor, since at the time the game was announced Capcom had stopped making Mega Man titles. I backed the project and even made a community that was open to everyone, not just the backers of the project and it was created before the official forums were launched. The project was doing well until Keiji Inafune started getting ideas of making an animated series based on the game, and wasting money towards that goal rather than just focusing on the game...
  7. I highly recommend getting a Everdrive for your SNES. You can play numerous ROM hacks and region locked games too, plus if you wish to develop your own rom hacks or games you'll have a way to test them on actual hardware! I wish the North American controller had the colored buttons like the PAL and Japanese controllers did. The console design looks cool, I like the NA design better.
  8. I honestly prefer to own physical copies of games. There's just something nice about having a bunch of physical games on a shelf that you have access to whenever you feel like playing it. It's much faster to install newer games via disc rather than downloading the game, especially if you don't have the greatest internet connection or don't have any means of having a wired connection.
  9. I think they would probably be intrigued into what we were doing. Like Kyng said above, if they were real they'd probably need leisure time just like us. They'd probably have way better technology than we do and probably have video games embedded in their brains. 😛
  10. Retro Gamer is still in publication, though it's a UK based magazine. Also as it's name states, it mainly focuses on talking about retro games rather than modern ones. I wish I kept all my Nintendo Power magazines in good condition when I was a kid, most of them were falling apart prior to me throwing them away right before I moved out of my parent's house. Those would have probably been worth something if I took care of them...
  11. I have a few streaming applications installed on my PS5 and Xbox One S. I currently no longer use them on my consoles since I have a Roku tv now. I just haven't gotten around to deleting the apps off my PS5 yet. :V Prior to getting my Roku TV for Christmas, I had a basic HDMI tv from 2014 so I didn't have any easy means to stream anything until I got my Xbox One S.
  12. I don't think it's really fair to compare the two devices. One is basically a portable computer, that is capable of much more than the Switch. Plus the Steam Deck isn't even a year old yet and the Switch is seven years old so the tech is different.
  13. Mine was the Nintendo 64. I had a Gameboy color prior to getting my N64 however, but it's a handheld. 😛 Technically before I got my n64 I had a NES clone console, it was the Super Joy III that my grandma got from a mall kiosk. It was basically a bootleg console that had tons of NES roms flashed onto a Epoxy Blob, but it's how I discovered one of my favorite Famicom games, Battle City. (Though it appeared as Tank M and Tank N 1990 in the game list. xD) I did think it was hilarious that the Dig Dug and Golf roms had text errors. (Dig Dug switch the letter R and S around, so whenever you got a game over it would read "Game Oves" and Golf switched the letters T and N around so whenever you'd get a Bunker it would say "Butker". xD)
  14. Backwards compatibility is a huge deal to me. Perhaps it really shouldn't be since I own a lot of older consoles, but it's nice to be able to pop in an original Xbox game that's compatible on the Xbox One and be able to play it. That's one of the reasons why I went with a Xbox 360 in 2010 over the PS3. I was able to play many different original Xbox titles that I never got to play since I had a PS2 and Gamecube when I was growing up and never an original Xbox.
  15. The 7th generation of consoles are pretty much retro at this point. Most of them turn 20 within the next two years... which that alone makes me feel old. We used to call the Genesis and Snes retro in the mid 00's when the 7th generation first started. At this point, the Genesis was 16 and the SNES was 14 when the Xbox 360 was released. Some would probably even argue that the Xbox One and PS4 are retro at this point since they're turning 10 this year.
  16. Legend of Legaia, it's my favorite RPG on the PS1. Sadly I don't think it will ever get a re-release or a remake as the parent company Contrail went bankrupt so no one really owns the rights to the game anymore... I know there's a fan remaking the game, and I hope he will eventually finish the project. Right now the only legal way of playing the original game is via on a PS1 or PS2 and the game isn't cheap. It doesn't emulate properly on the PS3 unfortunately... I think there may be a work around but it involves a emulator. (Which then there's only a few that can emulate the game properly...)
  17. The first Playstation game I ever played was Madden 98. My mom received a PS1 from her work since someone brought it with them on vacation. (She worked at a Super 8 Motel in the early 00's.) Since the owner never came back to retrieve it, she got to take it home and it came with a copy of Madden 98. I'm not a fan of sports games however, so shortly after I got a copy of Spyro the Dragon. I didn't have a memory card either, so I eventually got one. I remember first seeing Tomb Raider at a friends house when I was 6, but I didn't get to play it since my friend's mom thought I was too young to play. (I was six when the game came out...)
  18. Hereditary is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. My spouse and I seen it in theaters when it was released, and there are scenes that were very jarring. I didn't expect to see a close up of Charlie's decapitated head with a bunch of fire ants crawling all over it. Plus the ending was odd and disturbing too. I also thought Smile was disturbing as well, even some of the music in the film made me feel uneasy.
  19. Almost all politicians are corrupted, but Donald Trump is on a whole different level. He will continue to spread lies and blame others for his own wrong doing. Though even if he was to be arrested, he's got so much money that he'd probably only last maybe one night in jail unfortunately, unless he cannot be released on bond. I'm mainly worried on how this is going to affect next year's election...
  20. I'm old school and prefer wired controllers. I don't mind if a headset is wireless or not though. I prefer using wired controllers since you don't have to worry about charging the battery when it dies or in the case of Xbox controllers buy batteries. I know you could purchase rechargeable batteries but again the only thing you have to worry about with wired controllers is tripping over the cord or making sure the cord reaches where you're sitting.
  21. I don't think any major AAA titles should be ported to the Switch. Most Switch ports usually have technical limitations, but the Switch is six years old at this point so it's no wonder why it falls behind. The portable aspect of the Switch doesn't affect gameplay in my opinion, unless you only have a Switch Lite. You can always play the Switch docked, that's usually how I play mine anyways.
  22. Since a bunch of companies opted out of attending E3, it's been cancelled. I remember seeing footage of when E3 first became a event, it was a completely different time. I think Covid really had a impact on the event, sure there was one in 2021 but it was online. I don't think we'll see another E3 event at this point.
  23. I can definitely tell it's dying. There is only one person I know who still plays the game, anyone else that I talked to who used to play has since moved on. It wouldn't surprise me if EA will eventually let the game die, especially if it's not going to bring in any money. Especially seeing how the mobile version will be shutting down next month... that's usually never a good sign.
  24. Unfortunately for me I've got a iPhone and I would have to jailbreak it to even get emulators. I have a old Galaxy S7 that I could get emulators on, but it's battery is pretty much screwed up and can't hold a charge. Plus the phone is at least 6 or 7 years old at this point. I have other devices that I can emulate on though, such as a PS Vita.
  25. I don't like visual novels but since it's a Sonic game, I feel obligated to getting it. I plan on getting it once my new computer comes in later this week, I am going to record my playthrough of the game and upload it to my Youtube channel. This is definitely Sega's best april fools joke by far. I love how Knuckles wears his OVA hat in this title. xD
