Ajibusu got a reaction from killamch89 in Will some people be “left behind” if VR becomes big?
There are people that were left behind with every new technological advancement. So, it is certain that not everyone will get plugged into what VR will offer at the end.

Ajibusu reacted to Kane99 in What do you think the next Xbox will be called?
Xbox P Series? I sure hope not lol. The kids will have a field day with a name like that. and with series at the end, I could see people saying "haha Xbox Ps." Like Xbox has to pee. Just like xbone all over again. 😄
I really think they should just call it Xbox and the version type or something. Or go out and call it Xbox 5 or something.

Ajibusu reacted to Grungie in Linux, Unix, Dos. What the hell is the difference?
To super dumb it down, they’re different operating systems. At face value, seeing a command line interface makes it all look the same to the untrained eye, but not all commands and functions are universal.
DOS was largely tied to Microsoft operating systems, and has largely faded out of use. Windows pre-XP was essentially just a skin running on top of DOS, hence why Windows OS’s like Windows 95 had you run in MS-DOS mode to run games in DOS mode.
Unix is a different operating system, but you’ll almost never run into “pure” Unix. I’m not familiar with the terminology, but there’s different variations of it. The most famous or widely used variation of Unix (too lazy to fact check) is MacOS. Like different variations of Windows, Unix based operating systems all have a similar core underneath, but have different “skins” for the user interface.
Linux is another operating system. It’s a Unix-like operating system where it’s an operating system that has similarities to Unix, but isn’t. Like Unix, you’ll rarely run into “pure” Linux. The variations of Linux are called distributions or distros. Some common distros are Ubuntu, Arch, Fedora, Mint, elementary, Debian, Gentoo. They’re essentially like different skins, and some are built on top of each other. Some of it can be convoluted where you have a distro that’s built off of one distro that’s built off of another one. Linux is usually open source and free to download. There are exceptions to this. Linux is pretty popular with computer nerds, because some distros like Gentoo are really popular with tinkerers. It’s also less locked down than Windows and MacOS where if you know terminal commands (Unix and Linux’s term for the command line), you can really have full control over the operating system.
I can go deeper, as I do IT for a living.

Forza Horizon 5 tops the list for me. I am addicted to playing racing games and that game is one that made me play on my Xbox console most times.

I agree - I wouldn't waste my time doing it either. It can work but you'd have to find a niche part of gaming like RP servers which most won't participate in.

With the Xbox is going, I wouldn't think it can come over to play station anytime. Xbox are just seeking for monopoly, they want to be the leading gaming company around, and relegating others as chasing packs.

Ajibusu reacted to Crazycrab in Do you wanna pay $70 for Skyrim? F**K Nintendo!
Well here's some Nintendo Switch related bullshit to brighten up your day:

    https://kotaku.com/elder-scrolls-skyrim-nintendo-switch-anniversary-1849599263

In case your not aware the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim is basically the same as the Special Edition except it's got The Creation Club content included.  Creation Club is where you go to pay money for user created mods instead of going to Nexus Mods to get far superior content for free because.... your a jackass. The Anniversary Edition is something like £15/$20 upgrade or £43/$50 full purchase on PC Steam for this over a decade old game and it's almost universally agreed by Stream users that this clearly not worth it.  Yet not only is it $70 on the Nintendo Switch, as as I can tell there's no option to upgrade either!  It's the full whack $69.99 even if you own the Special Edition already.

I genuinely don't understand how Nintendo keep getting away with charging such a premium which has happened multiple times.  Why are games so expensive on the Switch when in many cases the ports are inferior?  This is ridiculous.

    Source: https://www.talkesport.com/news/gaming/miniclip-has-officially-shut-down-its-servers-except-for-8-ball-pool-and-agario/
I thought at first Miniclip as a whole was basically going away barring 8 Ball Pool and Agario, but it turns out they've shut down the servers for their web-based games and are shifting focus entirely to their mobile gaming ventures, which have been successful for them as the death of Flash gradually killed off what I expect a lot of people grew up with.
Did anyone here ever use Miniclip at any point? If so, what memories or stories do you have to tell from it?

I adored this place back when Flash games were all the rage. My school would even unblock the website on Sponsor Day for us to play games on there if that was one of the activities we chose to do for that day, and it was always one of the most popular choices for that day. I'm trying to find a list of all the games they had that were exclusive to them so I can see what ones I played a lot of, but haven't had any luck yet.
I hope the games they had were at least preserved by one of those Flash game preservation groups that are out there. I understand that hosting all that stuff is costing more money than it brings in but it would at least be nice to have the ability to play some of the games offline.

Ajibusu reacted to Grungie in Is Gaming on Linux A Worthwhile Experience?
They have distros that are beginner friendly, and have been around for years. Ubuntu, Elementary, and Mint are really easy to set up and use. Do you know how to click next a bunch of times and wait? Cool, you’re now certified in how to install those distros.
If you want to install software, a lot of distros work like Windows and MacOS, where you download an installer file, double click, and do the difficult task of hitting next a bunch of times. Or if that’s too arduous, a lot of distros have app stores, and work just like it does on Windows, Mac, or your phone/tablet.

I like how  beating a level gives you options to choose which level you would like to get in next and the benefits of beating that level.
I like straight forward game play where you know where you are going and how you could get there, less puzzles , maybe a few difficult bosses but nothing as hard as what you find in dark souls or sekiro shadows die twice.

Another problem is how they treat their developers. They feel most of them are replaceable, not factoring the problem replacing a top developer with years of experience can cause to the company when they do it the wrong way.

If the market that they invested on is facing a tough time, would you call that a success? Ubisoft Quartz was a big failure and they can't even openly admit that it was a big project that they had hopes on.
