  1. With an emulator though, unless you are the one porting the game, how do you know you're getting the actual, full game, unchanged? Also what about hidden features that maybe the person who ported it to an emulator didn't know about? For example, the Chris Houlihan room in Zelda A Link To The Past. VERY few people even know of it's mere existence, let alone how to find the fucking thing. I'll be straight up. I don't know shit about how porting and running an emulator work. No clue how to do any of it. I just know that for me, nostalgia plays a big enough role, that I don't mess with emulators. I play the real thing on the original system, as was initially intended. No shade thrown at those that use emulators. Being a classic gamer, I honestly don't get why you would want to go that route, but to each their own.
  2. The topic of whether cheaters should be banned got me thinking. What about making a tournament where the object is to cheat but not be caught in doing it? Whoever lasts the longest without their cheat being caught, wins. I would be interested in that. For example, I cheat at Monopoly like crazy. I think it's funny when I get caught. If I'm caught I put back the money or whatever I stole, and go on with the game. If I'm not caught I keep whatever I did. But I'm wondering if such a tournament even could exist. I highly doubt eSports would sanction it. But it could still be fun. Thoughts?
  3. I can have the TV on, but it's set to as low a brightness as it can get. The same goes for my phone and the TV I use as my computer monitor. Everything is in dark mode if that is available. My Switch is set to dark mode. I have light blocking curtains which put the rooms into a total blackout. And yet, I still wear sunglasses inside. If I'm going out somewhere, and someone else is driving instead of fighting the light with sunglasses, I wear one of those sleeping masks that cover your eyes and block out all light. The precautions my eyes require is pure hell. I even have to buy the darkest shade of white printer paper I can get. And that shit don't come cheap. here it runs about $10 for 150 sheets. And there's only one store in town that carries any of the stuff. It's at a shade that is just shy of being able to be called gray. I do have regular white printer paper, but It's for shit I will never see again, so unless I'm mailing a fan letter or something, I don't use it. For my own documents, I use the gray. Take care of and rest your eyes people. You don't want this life.
  4. Until this pandemic is beaten, and we're fully in the clear, you're damn right I will continue wearing one. You're right, we should be in lockdown. But like I said, American entitlement won't cooperate. They can pass laws requiring a lockdown, but 90% of the population will tell the politicians and law enforcement to fuck off and it's their right to get out of the house. So much shit would hit the fans, that all of Europe would be covered in a brown rain. Then @Shagger and @Crazycrab could call each other a shithead, but this time it would be in the literal sense.
  5. One thing that no one has mentioned yet, is that there are consequences for a persons actions. Whatever you say or do has a consequence. Sometimes good, but more often than not, are usually bad. You can't walk into Compton and start screaming out racist slurs and expect to make it out unharmed. Or even alive. Everything a person does, has a consequence of some kind. You can try to avoid it, but that is a futile effort. Games are no exception. Someone, somewhere, is pissed off by a specific game. And this applies to all games. There is someone pissed off and offended by it. With more than seven billion people on the planet, there is no video game that hasn't pissed off and offended at least one person. And that's not going to change.
  6. Ouija Origin Of Evil
  7. I just remembered another one that I went to. It was a Tech N9ne concert. I almost walked out on it. He had so damn many opening acts it just about ruined the entire show.
  8. I have a little Cherokee in me, but the blood has gotten so thin over the generations that it's almost not there. 2000 years after Constantine converted to xtianity on his death bed to keep his empire fro crumbling, there aren't a lot of places left to honor the old Gods. Most have fallen into ruin, or been destroyed by war. There are a handful left, but they're considered tourist attractions, not religious or holy sites. However for those of us that still believe, we will still use them as holy. If I ever make it to Greece, I will spend a day in the temple of the patron Goddess that I personally serve. I don't consider myself worthy to speak Her name, as I am mortal and She is a Goddess. But She is the Goddess of love and beauty. Her counterpart is the planet Venus. Her name starts with an A. I have family that is Hispanic. Not biological. They started out as friends, but they're family now. I will kill for them and I will die for them. There's nothing I wouldn't do to protect them or anyone that I care about, and I can count the number on my fingers and still have fingers left over. At current count, I have seven people in my life who matter to me. Those seven are on the same level. I will kill, die, or anything in between for them to ensure they are safe. I will happily give up my life for any of them. As for the rest of the world, my own biological bloodline included, I don't give half a shit what happens to them. I can sit back and watch them burn and my only worry is that I don't have enough hot dog buns. I've given away things that are family heirlooms, because they don't mean shit to me, and my bloodline can kiss my ass and whine about it for the rest of their lives. I. Don't. Fucking. Care. If I love you, that surpasses what most can envision. But you have one chance. You blow that chance, you will never get another one and have made an enemy beyond the end of eternity.
  9. I feel left out now. I’ve never played Hit & Run.
  10. I don’t do online gaming. I absolutely hate online gaming.
  11. Due to personal trauma in the marines, I don’t buy anything military related. Games like CoD. For personal taste, I don’t buy anything GTA, because the series is just pointless and boring to me.
  12. True, superior technology does open doors that were previously locked. But when those doors were closed, it left the developers more time to create a unique and different story/plot. They didn’t have to focus as much on how pretty the game was because the graphics were so much simpler. 8-bits is a hell of a lot easier to script than RDR2. Less time on appearance, more time on story. That’s my POV, anyway.
  13. I remember when I was a kid no one cared if they hurt your feelings. And it took more to do it. People had a hell of a lot thicker skin back then. By comparison to today, we were made of diamond teflon. Now we’re in a pussywhipped, SJW censorship culture. Everything offends someone. And if they can’t find someone who actually is offended by it, they lie and say they are. Even when they don’t know what the fucking product is supposed to be offensive about. Now I agree that some things should be destroyed and removed, as well as the fucks that made it. I’m white, but I have family that is NOT white. So the Ethnic Cleansing game hits me in a bad spot because 9 times out of 10 it’s white people pulling that shit. Back home in Scotland, my clan was at war for centuries with another clan, and our families still hate each other to this day. We haven’t taken up weapons and gone to war against each other in an attempt to erase the others existence in a very long time, but that doesn’t change the feelings. First off, people need to grow their ass up, and accept the fact that the world doesn’t revolve around them or their delicate sensibilities. Second, people need to understand the difference between something that is offensive, and something that is flat out fucking wrong. We don’t have games that take place in Virginia and center around slave auctions for a god damn reason. I’m not particularly a fan of how God Of War portrays the deities that I pay homage to. But I still love the series and play the games. Common sense people. Step One: discover it. Step Two: TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND FUCKING USE IT.
  14. Bart’s Nightmare on SNES was a good one. It can be hard as hell and more frustrating than it is hard, but it’s still a good game. I used to play it a lot, but lost track of the cartridge somewhere.
  15. I played and still play Donkey Kong and Mario Bros on Atari 2600. I also have them on NES. I’ve played a lot of Mario games, but with all the spinoffs, it’s probably more accurate to say that I’ve missed the vast majority of them. I’m not into all the wild crazy shit that they keep coming up with. Mario Odyssey is even a bit much in my opinion. It’s fun, but a bit much. Then again, I’m a classic gamer, so it’s not surprising. A lot of corporations have a mascot, but I would be more than willing to bet that Mario is the most iconic mascot in today’s market, regardless of what that market is.
  16. There has been a lot of speculation, but so far no one has come up with a definitive answer that satisfies everyone, or at least the majority. And Nintendo isn’t talking. Some say he was the winner of a contest in 1990 where you had to get a picture of yourself fighting Warmech in Final Fantasy. But as Warmech was so rare to actually find, this didn’t satisfy hardly anyone. Now the growing belief is that Chris Houlihan, isn’t even a real person. But instead, just a random name. A mixture of both seemingly American and Asian sounding names. Being that this all began 30 years ago, I doubt we’ll ever find out the truth.
  17. God damn, I AM a fucking dinosaur.
  18. Just a couple pics of the secret room in Zelda A Link To The Past.
  19. I'm SLOWLY getting into LIS. It takes some dedication, and tenacity, but it can get good if you keep going.
  20. What about when it's not a work of fiction? Super Columbine Massacre RPG JFK Reloaded Ethnic Cleansing Are all people just supposed to say "oh well" to those? Personally the first two don't bother me all that much, but the Ethnic Cleansing does. And also calling the Gods and Goddesses I worship myths in God of War is pretty fucking offensive. If someone was to make a game calling everything in xtianity myth, the world would catch fire. How is someone supposed to not take offense to that? it's ok that what I believe is nothing but myth, but what you believe is reality? I make sure that blood flows over that. I've done it before, I'll do it again.
  21. My favorite board game of all time is Dragon Strike. It's an awesome game. I posted the video somewhere here on the forum before, but I couldn't tell you the thread or how long ago it was. One game that is great, but I can't play is Risk. I can't play it because I always have a bad reaction in the game. Don't ask.
  22. Too many. I can't stand that fucking "game". But for an unbiased answer, according to a Google search, there are 215 official variants.
