  1. I was subscribed to Nintendo Online, but never actually used it, so I ended my subscription. I initially signed up so I could play NES and SNES games in a mobile platform, but the nostalgia wasn't there. It ended up being the same to me as those fucking flashback monstrosities. Those things make me sick just thinking about them. Nostalgia is of extreme importance to me.
  2. It looks awesome. Which PS was it on?
  3. There was a brief mention of microtransactions but nothing more. Is there going to be required money spent in game, or do I download and go, only paying for cosmetic stuff?
  4. Absolutely. They don't need to do every single challenge, collect every single item, do every single side mission, as long as they do some of them so they have an idea of the options you can do if you want to deviate from the main story for a while. For example, in RDR2, I don't need a reviewer to catch every single breed of wild horse. I don't need them to own every single gun. I don't need them to finish every challenge offered to me in the story board. I just need them to acknowledge that they exist with at least a brief description of what it is before they move on. That's not asking too much is it?
  5. I have Daemons Souls, and Dark Souls 1&2 all on PS3. I have played a bit of Dark Souls, and it was a great game. I haven't actually gotten around to playing the others. I should as they all seem to be right up my alley. I just stick almost exclusively to the old stuff.
  6. The only problem there, is that we would need to get millions of gamers on board with boycotting the games, which is a near impossible thing to do. The 10k members here at this forum wouldn't really make a noticeable impact if we all banded together to do a boycott. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sending a message that we're sick of the bullshit and halfassed unfinished games. I'll be right there on the front line in my wheelchair to tell them to cut the shit, not cut the games. Gaming companies lost their integrity somewhere in the 1990's.
  7. Screw medieval times, I grew up using the bushes. I used to voluntarily live rough in the woods for up to a month at a time. All I would take with me is my .410, a hatchet, and a survival knife. I could purify my own water, hunt and fish for my food, build my own shelters, make fire with 2 pieces of flint, and more. So when I say "live rough" I mean ROUGH. Also if I'm out driving outside town and suddenly have to go, I'll pull over and drop my pants right there.
  8. Keep it. Everyone knows I play the old stuff, but there are also some DDL's that I don't want to have to pay for again and have to start all over with. I also have some disc games like RDR2 that I'm well into and don't want to be forced to restart a new game. I only want to start a new game when I feel like I want to do it. Not because I have no choice.
  9. It depends on what material you want to use. 3D printers can use polymers, ceramics, and even metals. They're pretty versatile. Granted they can take a day to build something small to medium size, but just like games, you want your finished product done right. You don't want to start printing something and end up with a Cyberpunk or Fallout76 result.
  10. If you know anybody with a 3D printer, or feel like buying one, you could always make an Ellie figurine. They're not super expensive these anymore, and can make pretty good quality stuff.
  11. They made this keyboard in the pic, so that shouldn't be a big issue for them. Whether they will or not, is another story.
  12. As a writer I can tell you some things to help out. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1) The first sentence of your story is the hardest part to write. After that, many, if not most, stories flow organically and tend to write themselves. 2) Don't force it. You have to have that itch to start writing. And when you're writing if that itch goes away, don't force yourself to continue. Finish the sentence you're on, save it, and stop writing for that time until the itch comes back. Forcing it will make your writing pure shit. 3) Think about what you're wanting to write before you start. How you want it to start. What you want to happen in the middle. What you want the ending to be. What kind of conflicts you want the characters to face in order to keep the reader reading. 4) What kind of story you want to write. Fantasy, thriller, drama, sci-fi, horror, comedy, etc. Think about what kind of characters you need for your story. 5) Decide if you are the one telling the story or if a character is telling the story. 6) And most importantly is it fiction or nonfiction. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ These are just a few things. There's a lot more, but this should help you get started in the craft of the written word.
  13. Another thing these companies either don't realize, don't know, or don't acknowledge is that it takes years to build a reputation, and seconds to destroy it.
  14. As long as the developers know where to draw the line, then it can add a lot to the game for the players. The problem there is that there's a thin line between an ok amount of these realism aspects, and going overboard. So it's a very tricky business. It's why a lot of games leave that out, or make it an optional and very minor part of the game.
  15. They're like Walmart in that regard. They consider themselves a "family company" and thus have to keep to a certain "child friendly" code of ethics. Code of ethics my ass. PlayStation and Xbox didn't suffer from having GTA and RDR on their systems. Quite the contrary. They grew their fan base exponentially. Prior to watching my girl play RDR2, I had absolutely zero interest in western games. They bored the hell out of me. Even when I was a bull rider, I didn't like them. Now, I'm a huge fan of at least that series and willing to give other westerns a shot. I picked up Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger a few months ago for Switch, and even though I'm not a fan of first person, it's a sweet game. And to be honest, if you play it and RDR2 both in first person there's not a hell of a lot of difference. The same vulgar language is used, the same graphic violence, the same criminal activity, the same substance abuse, the list goes on. So I'm wondering if it isn't some kind of licensing fight between Nintendo and Rockstar about these games, as opposed to their content.
  16. The dogs just roam around the house and yard. The birds are each in their own cage on opposite sides of our living room. One rat is in a cage by himself in our computer room. The others are in separate cages in the living room. The dragons are in separate aquariums in the bedroom. My 4 female rats are kept separate from the males for obvious reasons. The dragons have to be kept separate because by nature they're solitary creatures. The two that I have were kept together when they were young by the people I got them from, and the female bit off part of the male's tail. That was when they decided that an extra aquarium was needed. One of my male rats is mean towards other rats, so we have to keep him separate. He's friendly to people. He's just really timid and shy.
  17. I've been writing more, and getting more involved with TST campaigns. I'm also learning German, as it's part of my heritage. I've also been looking for someone who can help me learn Scottish Gaelic, as Scottish Celt is the vast majority of my heritage, but so far I haven't found anyone. I'm willing to pay for lessons, but no one is taking me up on the offer. I can't afford any of the schools around here as they're like $1500 per semester. So I guess I'm just going to have to keep looking and hope I get lucky.
  18. My pitbull Lady, is entitled as hell. She doesn't ask for attention, she takes it. When she wants me she will just come and climb up on me. She will even use her nose to move my leg out of the way so she has room to climb up. My conure Apple, thinks I'm a jungle gym and climbs all over my head, usually hanging on my glasses and playing with my piercings. My dragons (Edgar and Lenore) love to run. They just run. Everywhere. They're like Forrest Gump on crack. The three chihuahuas bark at literally everything. If I fart in the bedroom with the door closed, rest assured they will bark. Then they act like big babies when they see either of us. My rats think they're monkeys. They climb on every single part of their enclosures, and even hang upside down from the top by their tails. 10 rats many of which think they're monkeys. My girl just got an animal that by its species is the most high strung and panicky creature on earth. A friggin parakeet. The damn thing flips out over EVERYTHING. It drives me nuts. I blink and it's losing its shit. That's 18 clinically insane creatures. I'm one camel away from being able to charge admission.
  19. If they were to do a hand held, then they would have to have every game on it either a DDL, or cartridge. I know the PSP had discs, but that was the main screw up for it. DDL's and carts run a lot better than the discs PSP had. But I don't see Xbox ever touching a cartridge. DDL is fine, but they would have to go into a whole new market alongside their home console. It didn't work for Game Gear, and wasn't the best for Gameboy so I wouldn't recommend they do it, and I absolutely don't see them doing it.
  20. I would love the rumors I've been hearing all year to be true and see Hatred get released on the Switch. I know it's not gonna happen, but a girl can dream can't she? Another that has been mentioned a couple times already is RDR2. That would be amazing to see released on Switch.
  21. If what I've heard all this time about Skyrim is true, then I'm concerned about the next Elder Scrolls game. Is Bethesda going to learn from Skyrim, or are they going to make the same, and possibly even more screw ups this time.
  22. I like the realism. It makes the game more captivating and helps me get drawn into another world and forget the real world for a while. I'm actually living in 1899 and just trying to survive with the rest of the gang. Doing some hunting, some killing, some fighting, and some fucking, it's all the same to me. I'm in another time and place. And it all feels much happier.
  23. I think one of the main problems is developers don't listen. If they see the $ sign on the game at all, they move forward with it, no matter how fucked up the game is. Sure that takes a hit to their reputation, but they think that as long a they make money, that they can handle it. But then you have to remember a little company called LJN. Look at what happened with them. A load of games that were considered to be some of the worst in gaming history, and they disappeared pretty quickly. If developers would look at that, and take a lesson from LJN, then maybe we would get games that aren't an anthill at release.
  24. Doesn't that defeat the purpose and remove the accomplishment factor in the game? Let's see, I can earn my XP and gain that level 50 status, or I can buy it for $5.
