Our dogs are pretty well trained to not mess with any of it. The birds are never near them, nor are the rats or dragons. They know where they’re not allowed to go.

Emulators on consoles, should they be allowed?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
That would be copyright infringement, and Nintendo could effectively take Microsoft down on that one. -
Scenario: You find out that the guy you had a crush on all through school was secretly in love with you, and still is but was too shy to say anything. He professes his love to you now. What do you do?

Emulators on consoles, should they be allowed?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
This brings my point back to all the flashback systems. They're nothing but emulators. People have hacked them and loaded 100's to 1000's more games on them, which from what I understand is so easy, a frog could do it. Granted these systems are running 30 year old games, but I feel the principle is the same. -
Tricks your pet knows but you didn't teach it?
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
It’s a lot of work to take care of all of them, but the rewards far outweigh the work. I’ve told my girl several times that if I could, I would have hundreds of rats. But unfortunately that’s not a viable option. I would also have tons of pitbulls. Out of all of them, it’s an honest toss up between the dragons and rats as to who is more high maintenance. A lot of people will try to say rats are low maintenance, but that’s pure bullshit. The dragons have to have their heat lamps on constantly, and the UV bulb on during the day. I actually wrote an article about rats as pets a couple years ago. I can post it here if anyone is interested. -
new games coming to Nintendo Online for SNES side
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Nintendo
I was subscribed to Nintendo Online, but never actually used it, so I ended my subscription. I initially signed up so I could play NES and SNES games in a mobile platform, but the nostalgia wasn't there. It ended up being the same to me as those fucking flashback monstrosities. Those things make me sick just thinking about them. Nostalgia is of extreme importance to me. -
It looks awesome. Which PS was it on?

There was a brief mention of microtransactions but nothing more. Is there going to be required money spent in game, or do I download and go, only paying for cosmetic stuff?

Do game reviewers need to play 100% of the game?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Absolutely. They don't need to do every single challenge, collect every single item, do every single side mission, as long as they do some of them so they have an idea of the options you can do if you want to deviate from the main story for a while. For example, in RDR2, I don't need a reviewer to catch every single breed of wild horse. I don't need them to own every single gun. I don't need them to finish every challenge offered to me in the story board. I just need them to acknowledge that they exist with at least a brief description of what it is before they move on. That's not asking too much is it? -

Demon's Souls vs Dark Souls vs Bloodborne
The Blackangel replied to Reality vs Adventure's topic in Gaming Forum
I have Daemons Souls, and Dark Souls 1&2 all on PS3. I have played a bit of Dark Souls, and it was a great game. I haven't actually gotten around to playing the others. I should as they all seem to be right up my alley. I just stick almost exclusively to the old stuff. -
It's time for developers/publishers to stop rushing games to release
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
The only problem there, is that we would need to get millions of gamers on board with boycotting the games, which is a near impossible thing to do. The 10k members here at this forum wouldn't really make a noticeable impact if we all banded together to do a boycott. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sending a message that we're sick of the bullshit and halfassed unfinished games. I'll be right there on the front line in my wheelchair to tell them to cut the shit, not cut the games. Gaming companies lost their integrity somewhere in the 1990's. -
Having to eat/sleep/etc. in video games: love it or loathe it?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Screw medieval times, I grew up using the bushes. I used to voluntarily live rough in the woods for up to a month at a time. All I would take with me is my .410, a hatchet, and a survival knife. I could purify my own water, hunt and fish for my food, build my own shelters, make fire with 2 pieces of flint, and more. So when I say "live rough" I mean ROUGH. Also if I'm out driving outside town and suddenly have to go, I'll pull over and drop my pants right there. -
What are you going to do with your old consoles?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Keep it. Everyone knows I play the old stuff, but there are also some DDL's that I don't want to have to pay for again and have to start all over with. I also have some disc games like RDR2 that I'm well into and don't want to be forced to restart a new game. I only want to start a new game when I feel like I want to do it. Not because I have no choice. -
It depends on what material you want to use. 3D printers can use polymers, ceramics, and even metals. They're pretty versatile. Granted they can take a day to build something small to medium size, but just like games, you want your finished product done right. You don't want to start printing something and end up with a Cyberpunk or Fallout76 result.
-
If you know anybody with a 3D printer, or feel like buying one, you could always make an Ellie figurine. They're not super expensive these anymore, and can make pretty good quality stuff.

They made this keyboard in the pic, so that shouldn't be a big issue for them. Whether they will or not, is another story.

As a writer I can tell you some things to help out. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1) The first sentence of your story is the hardest part to write. After that, many, if not most, stories flow organically and tend to write themselves. 2) Don't force it. You have to have that itch to start writing. And when you're writing if that itch goes away, don't force yourself to continue. Finish the sentence you're on, save it, and stop writing for that time until the itch comes back. Forcing it will make your writing pure shit. 3) Think about what you're wanting to write before you start. How you want it to start. What you want to happen in the middle. What you want the ending to be. What kind of conflicts you want the characters to face in order to keep the reader reading. 4) What kind of story you want to write. Fantasy, thriller, drama, sci-fi, horror, comedy, etc. Think about what kind of characters you need for your story. 5) Decide if you are the one telling the story or if a character is telling the story. 6) And most importantly is it fiction or nonfiction. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ These are just a few things. There's a lot more, but this should help you get started in the craft of the written word.

Another thing these companies either don't realize, don't know, or don't acknowledge is that it takes years to build a reputation, and seconds to destroy it. -
Having to eat/sleep/etc. in video games: love it or loathe it?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
As long as the developers know where to draw the line, then it can add a lot to the game for the players. The problem there is that there's a thin line between an ok amount of these realism aspects, and going overboard. So it's a very tricky business. It's why a lot of games leave that out, or make it an optional and very minor part of the game. -
What other 3rd party games would you like to see the Switch get?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Nintendo
They're like Walmart in that regard. They consider themselves a "family company" and thus have to keep to a certain "child friendly" code of ethics. Code of ethics my ass. PlayStation and Xbox didn't suffer from having GTA and RDR on their systems. Quite the contrary. They grew their fan base exponentially. Prior to watching my girl play RDR2, I had absolutely zero interest in western games. They bored the hell out of me. Even when I was a bull rider, I didn't like them. Now, I'm a huge fan of at least that series and willing to give other westerns a shot. I picked up Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger a few months ago for Switch, and even though I'm not a fan of first person, it's a sweet game. And to be honest, if you play it and RDR2 both in first person there's not a hell of a lot of difference. The same vulgar language is used, the same graphic violence, the same criminal activity, the same substance abuse, the list goes on. So I'm wondering if it isn't some kind of licensing fight between Nintendo and Rockstar about these games, as opposed to their content.
