  1. Being that I'm a classic gamer, I know the games on the old stuff really well, so I know beforehand for the most part if I'll enjoy a game or not. With newer stuff, I stick with genres that I already know I'm a fan of. For example I'll look at a game and if a character on the cover has a gun I know instinctively that I won't like it. But if the character is holding a sword, then my interest is peaked and I give it a closer look and more consideration.

  2. I go for physical copies. I'm not the biggest fan of emulators, and I also like having the option of taking my game with me if I want to change rooms or if I'm going somewhere. It's not really an option if you download digital copies. It's a bit difficult to lug a computer everywhere with you unless you use a laptop.

  3. Most of them think that their fame and money makes them above the law, and that means they can do whatever they want with no consequences. Look at Trump for instance "Grab 'em by the pussy". Matt Lauer sexual harassment. Mel Gibson racist tirades. They think they can do whatever they want.

  4. There's no way I would consider it, since just to play I would have to pay a fee every month. That's just unacceptable. It's pure greed on the part of Google. I'll own my cartridge or disc, but I won't pay every month just to be able to play. That's not a console. That's online gaming. Might as well stick to WoW.

  5. Almost every game from NES, SNES, and N64 that I have I ended up finishing at some point, But there are also several that just pissed me off to the point that I quit playing them all together. MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero is one. That one is just an abomination anyway. I couldn't figure out a damn ting on DK64. I beat DKC and DKC2 on SNES, but on N64, nope. But just because I beat them doesn't mean I play them anymore. If you want me to make your ears bleed, then come on over and we'll pop one in. Then there's one that I've bitched about all over this forum. Solar Jetman. No way, no how, never. 2 minutes into that game and you realize it's only purpose is to paint a little red dot in the center of it and get ready for hunting season.

Now there's also a couple games I got because they looked fun, and I just wanted them to screw around in. Hexen is one. It's a blast to play, but I've never beaten it. I just screw around. No biggie.

  6. There's a lot of early system games that wouldn't have the audience they once had when they originally came out. One that I think wouldn't have the same audience would be Contra. It was a great game in the 80's, with a slight Vietnam war feel to it. Or maybe that part was just me. But today even South Park is fighting aliens. And the war games like Socom, and CoD would surpass Contra in such a great way, that it would most likely flop completely.

Then there are games like Dig Dug, Galaga, Q*Bert, and Marble Madness that kids would look at today and flip out asking "WTF is this shit?!" They were mind blowing then. They would be mind blowing today, but in the opposite direction.

  7. For the love of the Gods no! These minis an classics systems are worthless. All they are is a shameful cash grab. Don't waste your money. If nostalgia is your reason, you'll seriously regret it. Nostalgia isn't satisfied by a replica.

  8. I can't stand that wireless crap. Granted it's more convenient, but the damn things always stop working and are more of a pain in the ass than they're worth. That's why I stick to a wired mouse and keyboard.

  9. Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Sega Genesis, Sears Home Gaming System, Game Boy.

As for a game list, I have over 100 games in my video library. And those aren't the only systems we own. My wife has a PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox 1S. I also have PS3. And somewhere around here we have a Wii, and Game Cube. We also have a Nintendo 3DS. GBA SP. There's something else we have, but I don't remember what it is.

Guess prisons are different. Big country and all. Assuming you're in the US? It's been different for the two I know. I'm glad you and the others with you had lots of stuff to do. I can't even imagine what it's like to be stuck in a tiny cell for extended periods! I'd go mental! Either way, glad you're out. 🙂

Yes, I'm in the US. I did my time, and I'm out and free. And for those wondering, It was a tricky case. I was out and ended up putting a guy in the hospital in self defense. The club owner had a no tolerance policy for fighting, and with how bad I hurt the guy, I had to do some time. So I was locked up. His girlfriend, my friends, and several onlookers testified on my behalf, which lowered the judges sentencing, but I still did some time.

  11. I think you said it right. It's fine for children of any age to play video games, as long as it's appropriate for the child's age. I don't think you would want your 6 year old playing GTA of Call Of Duty. Or even something that seems cartoony like Conker's Bad Fur Day. Which I might add started out as a child's game until the developers got perverted.

But pretty much any Mario, Zelda, or Sonic game would be fine for pretty much any age. Then there's games that are aimed for more of a younger age bracket like Banjo Kazooie. I'll admit, I'm 37 and LOVE Banjo Kazooie. But hell I still watch Fraggle Rock, so go figure.

If you can get a new one that is retro-compatible then its worth it to get a new system and get rid of the old one (if you have the money to spare to do such a thing). Thats why I got my modded Wii, as much as I'd like to get a NES or SNES getting one on good conditions these days can be rare, along with a good cartridge. Sure back then consoles and games where made to stand the test of time, but the modded was a better option for me personally & financially. At least this is my opinion, I'm sure other will prefer getting the original system.

Actually the NES and SNES systems are really plentiful. Easy as pie to find and not expensive, nor are the games. I have bought several bundles on CL and never spent more than $150. All have come with at least 15 games, many with other system setups, and sometimes even a TV. Inexpensive as hell. At the moment I have 5 NES systems that I've picked up on CL in bundles, and 3 SNES systems that I got the same way. I never spent more than $150 and they always came with close to 20 games and sometimes even a TV. One bundle was several systems. 3 PS2's, Atari 2600, NES, and a Sears Home Gaming System(complete in box I might add). Also it had over 70 games, most of which were Atari games. All of it works and I play the hell out of it.

I currently have an exorbitant amount of surplus systems. I buy for either the games, or the system, or all of it. I end up with even more, and I resell a lot of it to make a profit.

Sorry to post three times in a row, I can't figure out how to edit a post.

It depends a lot, both on the prison and the prisoner. Nowhere near all prisoners have jobs, there aren't enough to go around, and in maximum security prisons they have very little time outside the cell. They don't get to roam around. They do get to take classes if they want to, so they do have some occupied time. In the SHU (cruel and unusual punishment in my humble opinion) in the prison my friend is in they get ten minutes to shower three times per week and one hour of "yard time" in a cage three times per week. In the normal population they get a bit more, but still very little. In other words, they spend a lot of daytime in the cell.

Alright, I'll stop posting now. Sorry for rambling on.

When I was inside, we all had a job. We had a few hours in the yard, about 40 minutes at chow, and the majority of the day at the job they assigned us, and a lot of time in our cells. Virtually anything that wasn't "bought" at the prison was contraband, and got you sent to the hole for a minimum of 3 days. And it doesn't matter who you are or what you're in for, you're gonna go to the hole at least once. It's like hockey players. They're gonna spend time in the penalty box, there's no way around it. It's a pretty full day.
