  1. I can't say I've gotten anything for free, but I've gotten games on Switch for less that 30¢, and some were even a single penny. So that's damn near free. Other than them, the only free games I've ever gotten (free on my end at least) were games that I won here in the Bid For Rewards section of the forum.

Magnets don’t mess with LCD’s like they did with CRT’s. Your speakers usually have magnets, and they don’t mess with your display.

Point taken. I used them when we still had CRT monitors. I forgot to say that it could be different under new technology. I dropped my brain somewhere in the 90's. I still haven't found the bastard.

  3. Microsoft is shady as hell. They're buying up everything that they can, so they can charge extortionate prices if any other studio like Sony or Nintendo show interest in one of their games. Sure, having exclusives is fine. We're never going to see a Mario or Zelda game on any system other than Nintendo. I'm not including the ones that were leased out to the CD-i, or watch games. So I see no problem with having a couple exclusives. But with games like CoD, if they make that exclusive then everyone who plays it online from another platform is going to be royally fucked. Their link to the game is gone. I don't want to be forced to buy a whole new console for one single game. That's bullshit.

Selling it off might also be a good plan, I must say. As long as there is no consequences that come up later selling it is no big deal.

I wouldn't think there would be any consequences. After all, it was Microsoft's screw up, and not the consumer's fault. In this situation, once it's in the gamers possession, Microsoft can't bitch about it, so you can do whatever you want with it. Sell it, give it away, trade it, save it as a spare or put it in another room on a separate TV, use it for target practice or as a boat anchor. The options are all but endless. The only thing Microsoft can do at this point is piss and moan. And as @Demon_skeith said, they're not short on money, so losing a system that's worth less than a thousand new isn't even going to be noticeable. Monetarily speaking, anyway. Hell they probably spend 10 times more than that on shit soiled toilet paper every day.

Looks like current gen is about 2 pounds more than last gen, so its really not that bad.

Like I said, to someone in my situation, it's a lot.

In the US you get 1 point for every 10 cents you spend, or 10 points per dollar.  Right now a for a full priced $70 game like The Quarry requires 17,500 points.  So to get the Quarry just on points you would have to spend $1,750 or 25 full priced games!  A typical user would probably take about 5 or 6 years to get that much, this generation will most likely be done with by then.  It's just like that dumb supermarket Clubcard crap where you get a tiny percentage back in store credit to get you spend there rather than anywhere else, but all it takes is for just one game you wanna play to be available on a service like XBox Game Pass or 2 at half price in a sale in that same period of time for you to be clearly better of just doing it that way.  This is just stupid.

You can get 3 brand new PS5's for that price. What the almighty fuck is the incentive to draw in the idiots that would go for it?

Come on people, crack is not your friend. Or at least lay off the god damn cough syrup.

  7. I got mine directly from Playstation.com so you may have gotten one that was damaged due to mishandling by wherever you got it. So something internally could be screwed up by either the store you got it from, or if you got it second hand, the person you got it from or store. Big name stores like Walmart don't always take the best care of their deliveries.

  8. It depends on which PS you're asking about. If we're talking PS1, it's a pretty dead even tie between FF8 and Castlevania SOTN for me. I missed the entire PS2 era for reasons that I'm not going to get into at the moment, so I can't comment on that one. With PS3, it's a toss up between GoW and Dante's Inferno. I know GoW was originally on PS2, but I didn't get it until it was rereleased on the PS3. As I said, I missed the PS2 era. On Ps4 (and everyone will attest to this) my favorite is hands down RDR2. With PS5, I haven't really gotten started playing many of the PS5 games I have yet so I can't say there. Also I don't have a whole hell of a lot of PS5 games yet. On the PSP it was, again, GoW. Chains Of Olympus on PSP is actually what got me into the GoW series. I've never owned a PS Vita, so I can't comment on that one either.

  9. Pretty much any Mario game is kid friendly. You can't really go wrong there. There are some that are more geared towards the adult crowd, but not for any vulgar or kid unfriendly reasons. Like one of my favorites is FutureGrind. I'll post a trailer for it below so you can see what I mean. And if you're getting it for a young child you definitely need to put a memory card in it to expand your space for games, and then buy DDL's instead of carts. That way he can't lose his games when he wants to play it. So I recommend going to the Nintendo eShop through your Switch and buying games that you think are appropriate for him. It's a lot easier than going to Walmart or Gamestop, there's IMMENSELY more options there, and there's always games that are on sale. If there's anything that you or your partner want to play that's more adult oriented, you can always buy the carts for yourselves, so that he can't play them. Nintendo Switch offers a lot of options for a lot of things. Also, if you're looking for games and one or two spark interest but you don't want to buy them at that moment, there's a wishlist that you can put them in to keep them handy for whenever you think the time is right to buy it. And your wishlist itself never expires.

  10. The pre-season went pretty good this year. We (Red Wings) beat the Leafs last night. Unfortunately we lost to the Caps Wednesday. We're going up against the Leafs again tonight to officially kick off the 22-23 season. Hopefully we can win again to keep them down. They're one of the better teams in the league, so hopefully we're going strong when we see them for the first official season game starts tonight.

  11. @kingpotato is Mexican if I remember correctly, so he could give a better insight to this. For me personally, I just refer to Hispanic people however they prefer. It's the same as everyone else. Unless it's something stupid, like unvaccinated people wanting to be called "purebloods". But it's kinda in the same boat as me asking people what their pronouns are. No two people are the same with their preferred terminology. And it's not limited to the Hispanic community. It's all in every community. I know a few other lesbians who find it funny as hell to be called a dyke. I would be enraged if anyone other than @Rain Dew was to call me a dyke. So it all boils down to the individual.

  12. I haven't been to a library in decades. I do buy books however. Typically, I just buy fiction as that is where my interests lie. I do read a little bit of nonfiction, but that is usually only when it's in direct relation to some aspect of my life. But it seems that I tend to prefer writing the books instead of reading the books the majority of the time.

  13. My Switch Lite can run it just fine, but I’m sure they cut corners and removed several things to get it down enough so the hardware could run it. The Switch is a great machine, but let’s be realistic. It’s nowhere near the power and capabilities of PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Especially PC. So while the game is on the system, it has to be a condensed version. That’s the only way I can see how it works.

Been ages since FF 8, but I don't recall able to see items.

If you go to any store, there’s a list of what you can buy. Technically, the only things that are straight up visible in the physical sense are your weapons. Like Squall’s gunblade and Quistis’s whip. But anything and everything that’s in your inventory is fair game to buy and sell.

  15. There are several NES games that have this feature. Legacy Of The Wizard is one. Others include Legend Of The Mystical Ninja and FF8. It's all over the place. Not to the same caliber of RDR2, but it's not an uncommon feature.

This is a warning for anyone who doesn't already know. NEVER have any kind of magnet in your hand or anywhere near a computer screen. I had a flashlight magnet in my hand while pointing to something on my brother's computer and a whole corner section got all messed up! Like...squiggly. It stayed that way too.

Have you ever ruined your computer screen? Keyboard? Messy spills,🥤cigarette ashes/burns, 🚬 etc.?

If that happens you just need to make yourself a degaussing coil. Just take a hell of a lot of copper wire, make a big circle with it, and attach a cord to power it. Just keep it away from your PC because it WILL delete everything on it. I learned to make them in an electronics class I took 20 something years ago. It can fix the screw up on your screen. Just hold it in the middle and slowly move it to the corner. Crisis averted. The wire in a hoop like that creates a magnetic draw. It will work really well if you accidentally do it again.

There is a feeling that the GTA 6 leaks was an inside job as a result of Rockstar being an as*hole. If they can go this far against an ex worker, I now wonder what they do to their current staff.

They're about like any other studio in that regards. Overworked, underpaid, impossible deadlines, and hellish working conditions. I don't think there's a single studio that threats their employees like anything other than worker ants. And it's all to keep their investors happy. If people would strike just one single time, I guarantee you things would change. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen.

  18. I've never been a fan of Apple/Mac products. Their entire computer attempts since the Apple II were a complete joke. They couldn't figure out the simplest of things. So Bill Gates eventually had to bail them out because trade laws don't allow for a monopoly. At least that's the story I got. There may be more or less to it, I don't know

But to get back on topic, I've used iPhone's since the Apple 5. I've tried android phones, but hated every last aspect of them. I know my way around an iPhone, and do actually like it. I prefer it over other types of phones. I agree that this was a moronic move to replace the sim tray with a piece of fucking plastic. What the hell was the actual point, is what I want to know. The ones that have that whole 5g conspiracy in their heads HAVE to have played a role in this. I honestly can't think of any other reason (as a company) that they would pull such a stupid stunt. But If I were asked to take a guess, I would say they did it so that later they can sell an "upgraded" version and make extra money that way. They knew Canadians wouldn't fall for it, but the states are so fucked up right now, that people would buy earrings made of tin foil, fish hooks, and dog shit.
