Another thing I don't get is about preowned games. For example, let's say that a new copy of a game is $70. But there is a preowned copy next to it for $50. What is wrong with buying the used copy? A lot of people will look at the used copy in disgust, and waste the extra money for a used copy. I don't even know the number of games I've bought that were preowned games. It has to be in the hundreds at least.
So if I want a game, and can save money by buying a preowned copy, I go for it. There's no reason not to. I go the Dark Pictures Anthology: House Of Ashes recently that was a used copy, and it was about half the price of a new one. DPA is an awesome series. I already had Little Hope, and Man Of Medan. Great games.

The Blackangel got a reaction from Empire Of Sight in Fan Made Games / ROM-hacks
Does anyone else play any fan made games and ROM-hacks? I have 3 that I play. All are Zelda games and on the SNES.
    Zelda: Parallel Worlds
    Zelda: Goddess Of Wisdom
    Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets
Goddess Of Wisdom is so far beyond hard. I've never seen a game like it. I honestly believe that whoever created it never intended for it to be beaten. Considering that to even hit some of the bosses you're required to use a spin attack. Regular sword slashes do literally nothing. Some enemies can only be hurt by things like arrows. The bosses from Link To The Past are now used as mini bosses in the dungeons. I've been playing it for over two years, and I've only made it to the third temple. I haven't beaten it yet. I can't get through it because Vitreous is a mini boss in the third room as you enter, and the bastard is impossible to fight, let alone beat. The little eyes are now on steroids. They come at you so fast and are so strong you don't really have any time to attack.
Those are the only fan made games, AKA ROM-hacks that I have. They're fun-ish. The fact that they are so damn hard takes away a good chunk of the fun. Don't get me wrong, I love a challenge. But this one is at the level of cruel with it's difficulty. You think Dark Souls was hard? It's a cake walk compared to this. And GoW isn't even the hardest one of the 3. That one reportedly goes to Parallel Worlds. I have yet to try that one, mainly because I'm already stuck in GoW. I want to at least beat the third temple before I try one of the others.

Another thing, is a mental game. All too often, people think that price equals quality. If one game is $30, and another game is $70, they think the $70 game is better than the $30 game. That's not true at all. Maybe the $70 is more popular, but the $30 game is hands down better in the eyes of the gaming community. Still they go for the most expensive because they trust the developers, when we all know is a fools errand.
It's ignorance, gullibility, stupidity, and being easily manipulated, all rolled into one gamer. And it's done over and over and over again.

The Blackangel got a reaction from Crazycrab in Do you actively avoid walkthroughs some or all of the time?
I'm just the opposite. The shadow and spirit temples are extremely easy. The spirit temple is actually my favorite temple in the game. As for pissing anyone off, fuck em. Everyone has different capabilities, experiences, and play styles. You find the water temple easy. Awesome! I find it a major bitch, especially since I'm trying to get all the gold skulltulas as well. As for the bongo playing penis, that's one trick I hope no man has. I would turn and run if a guy was doing that. especially if two appendages suddenly appeared. My thought on that:
    GENITAL WARTS FROM HELL

I've heard endless complaints about the Water Temple in OoT and at risk of pissing some people of, I've never seen what all the fuss is about.  By my recollection all you really have to do is sink to bottom, explore every accessible room, raise the water level, rinse and repeat.  Sure you are punished with some pain in the ass backtracking if you miss something but if you just follow that pattern that won't happen.  I always remember the Spirit Temple being more complicated and the Shadow Temple being more of a mindfuck, I mean the final boos is literally a bongo playing penis with disembodied hands!

The Blackangel got a reaction from runswithspatulas in Brag about
I knew a guy several years ago that would drone on and on about how great he was. How high his IQ was, how rich was, how strong he was, how big his dick was and more. He was so in love with himself that he would consider it an honor for you to be allowed to be in his presence. I finally told him one time to let me know when he was done kissing his own ass, because my ass was full of shit too. He was so pissed off that I called him out like that (taking a baseball bat to his fragile overinflated ego), that he was red in the face and ran away like the scared little pussy he was. I haven't run into him in probably 20 years. I have no idea what happened to him since then, but I'm sure he has received several ass kickings.
As for me bragging about something, the only thing I can think of is my pets and my car. I don't look down on anyone who doesn't have things. I've been there. I'm just proud of those two things. I don't have any skills or abilities in anything to brag about. I'm actually a pretty boring person IRL.

Getting back to topic, Nintendo can charge these prices due to brand loyalty. There are loyalists for every gaming platform, and they’re not willing to give other platforms a chance. Nintendo has the biggest amount of loyalists simply because it has been around so much longer. Those of us who grew up on Nintendo, tend to (at the very least) prefer Nintendo. I started out gaming on Atari 2600 and Colecovision. When the NES hit the market in 1985, I desperately wanted one. Ever since then I’ve mainly been a fan. Especially for some of their exclusive’s like the Zelda franchise. All that said, they can jack up the prices however high they want, and people will pay it. It’s a sad fact of corporate greed. They know they can get away with gouging consumers, so they see no reason not to.

    I could understand that.
To be clear, I hate elitism in all things, but particularly in gaming as well. I hate being called a "casual gamer" just because I don't enjoy the AAA games most people enjoy, for example.
But I think where I was coming from with the "Master Race" thing was that I wasn't intentionally using it in the elitist way. I get what you're saying, and I get that it is associated with elitism, but I feel like a lot of words (where the meaning isn't as obvious as blatantly offensive words like Nazi and the other n-word) are thrown around on the Internet in an ironic but humorous fashion that the original definition of such words become blurred, and oftentimes, I get called out for being too sensitive when they're "just joking around," so the "proper etiquette" for behaving towards such ambiguous usage of words just becomes confusing. "Git gud" is one such term where it can be interpreted as a mocking kind of term to ridicule people who aren't good at games, and yet people have criticized me for getting sensitive about it, saying "it's just a joke and no one really use it unironically," so I just don't even know what the proper standards are. I'll still refrain from using it, but I wanted to explain where I'm coming from and how I was influenced into using such loaded words in such a frivolous fashion.

I didn't just ask that for my sake, I'm not the only one who really hates that. Still, I appreciate that, so thank you.

I want you to understand something though. It's not just the term and what it means in history that bothers me. As a PC gamer, I find the idea that we are somehow better than other gamers just because of a platform presence abhorrent and fundamentally wrong, and there's a reason. I was once part of a forum and gaming community that was about gamers grouping up and organizing with each other to play games together, but at first they absolutely refused to support those of people played on console and excluded them. Whenever we tried to organise our own game nights on console, they shut us down. Even on cross platform games they set the rules up in such a way that we could not join in. So you see, I'm not just being some "snowflake", "PC Master Race" is an attack of the very principles I hold as a gamer. None of the arrogance and elitism that some PC gamers feel is justified and just like how me and a few others refused to let to let it be acceptable back then, I refuse to let it be acceptable now.

Anyway, rant over. Once again, thank you for being cool about this.

The Blackangel reacted to killamch89 in How long do SD Cards last? Can I re-use older ones?
Even though they may be technically compatible, the read and write speeds may vary depending on the SD card manufacturer. Sandisk and Samsung SD cards tend to be very quick and reliable. You probably should look into a 512 GB micro SD card for something like a Steam Deck but make sure you buy it from a reputable source and not off Ebay or Amazon because there's lots of counterfeit products on those sites nowadays.

We have small, large, and jumbo size bottles of Fiji here. 500ml, 1 liter, and 1½ liter.
A hell of the water here in the states is too toxic to drink, and I'm not talking about Flint. Their water is deadly, whereas with the rest of the country, it's just too toxic to drink. It's fine to do things like shower and do laundry. But it's too dangerous to drink it.
It was somewhat like that for me. The water at home was enough to make you sick just from the taste alone. But only a couple miles away at my grandmas house, the water tasted amazing. And we were on the same lines. I'll never understand what the hell the damn difference was, but I guess it's a moot point these days.

The Blu-ray disc association are the patent holders of licensing blu-ray so let it be clear that Sony isn't the sole patent holder of the blu-ray technology, was going to react to this yesterday but it probably slipped my mind and got sidetracked along the way. It's doubtfull that sony alone would even be able to provoke microsoft their license for putting their games on blu-ray discs, besides if it were to happen nothing a big sack of cash can't solve. No with Physical media sales in decline they aren't going to stop microsoft from putting their games on blu-ray and grab whatever money they can get.

What many don't realize is that posting numbers don't relate to popularity. Members who have posted for years now have gotten a feel for this place, and know how things work. Thus their posts are for the most part on topic and educating. Sure there are places to post goofy and light hearted fun, and that's always welcome in the correct sub-forum. But just because they are leading in the category doesn't mean that every post they have made was worth making. So post as much as you want. We don't mean machine gun posting.
