So true and they don't really care as about the security of our data as long as they're making money off of us. The bad press is what their real issue is, not the fact that we the players can be doxxed.

It's a classic bait and switch - they played on the links that they were developing a Silent Hill game instead of denying it from the get-go and then when they receive criticism about this, now they choose to disclose that they don't have anything to do with it.

This is an excellent point and if I remember correctly, Google had a similar issue with some devs with a somewhat similar policy. A lot of these huge corporations thrive on being parasites to smaller developers, stealing their ideas and then discarding of them when they have what they wanted.
