  1. What I get from this is that are claiming this about engaging with the community to improve the game as they develop it, it's not really about monetary support of the development itself. That would make sense if that's the case because it's clear right now that they want this game out in some way before the launch of XBSX. The problem, quite clearly, is that game is currently in a state where it's just not ready to be sold as a proper title. By putting on early access as, what's basically, a long beta test, they can develop the game more quickly to get it ready for release on console and XBox Game Pass. And obviously, XBox want it there as soon as possible. Xbox publish and promote the game, but their cash isn't the only thing Obsidian need and they obviously value early access for that purpose as they've used it before. I know what you're gonna say, "If that's the case then they should this make this game free." Well, they can't because people have effectively already bought it through the XBGP subscription. Obsidian and XBox can't ask people to accept a game they pay for through a subscription just given away for free. At least that's my theory. If the XBox Series X is only 3 or 4 months away and this game isn't finished let alone polished up enough for prime time,...I think that ship has already sailed I'm not gonna say that, why the hell would I say that? I said they should do open testing, doing an open BETA is not giving away a game for free. Nope, that is not how these services work and you know it. If a certain show gets removed from Netflix can the customer rightly turn around and say "HEY, I paid to watch that show! Put it back on!" I know that there are some idiots that feel like they are entitled to do that but you, me and anybody else with at least a reasonable amount of intelligence knows that the answer is NO! You pay to access the service, not for each individual piece of content that available on the service! That would have to be done separately! Not to mention that ALL games published by Microsoft are on XBox Game Pass and this just happens to be another one in the pile. The fact that it's on XBox Game Pass has absolutely nothing to do with it's direct funding or support and XBGP subscribers sure as hell haven't bought the game directly by accessing it via the service. Even if you were right they could just simply issue closed BETA codes to XBGP subscribers, problem solved. I'm sorry my man but your theory doesn't work. What is written on the Steam page is a load of "Engaging with the community" and""responding to your feedback" PR bollocks because, and I'm sorry to sound a broken record here but... THEY CAN DO ALL THAT THROUGH OPEN TESTING!!!!!! It's either they have little to no actual confidence in this game or thier just just trying to squeeze more money out of people. I know that Obsidian are not the only ones to have done this in the past but the fact remains that there is absolutely no justification for a developer that has the backing of a major publisher to go through Early Access because. I'd say it defeats the entire purpose of early access, which it does, but I think double dipping and exploiting it is more accurate in this case. Not only are they selling a game that is incompomplete but even worse they are bypassing much of the consumer protection that we would normally get. This is shady as all hell.
  2. If that's the case then why is it only going into Early Access after Microsoft agreed to publish? Even if Obsidian were intending to self publish before then why didn't they go into Early Access within the last two years when the game was apparently being developed? It doesn't make sense either way!
  3. This is actually the part of the show that pissed me off to the point of grinding my balls through a cheese grater. Yeah the trailer was hilarious and it looks like it could be allot of fun but... just listen to what Mr Urquheart said at 26:34: WHAT... THE... ACTUAL... FUCK!!!!!!!! Whoever it was at Obsidian and/or XBox that decided to do that needs to pass a bag of literal Obsidian kidney stones! That is complete bullshit! The whole point of Early Access is that you are buying a game while it's still in production to support its development, a system that is clearly intended for smaller independent developers who can't afford to fund their projects outright... BUT THIS IS BEING PUBLISHED BY MICROSOFT AND BEING DEVELOPED BY OBSIDIAN!. That means it's MICROSOFT'S JOB to support its development NOT OURS!!!!!! What they should be doing is going through the process of closed, followed by preferably open ALPHA and BETA testing, then take pre-orders (NOT an early access purchase) when the consumers are guaranteed a finished product. But since it’s “Early Access” they can turn around and say “I’m sorry but we can’t refund you since we spent all the money” should the project go down the toilet. This is shady as fuck and far as I’m concerned Obsidian are fired from breathing!
  4. I haven't anything about a new console. If they are planning anything it's probably a mid-gen refresh of the Switch with a bit more power.
  5. I admit I don't have much experience with "Souls" type games... except for Deamon's Souls which I hated. This gameplay actully seems to resemble something like Assassins Creed which is a gameplay style I much prefer over the much slower "Souls" style.
  6. Grammar and sentence structure is a thing that exists and I was taught in school. I've read through your post several times and I can barely tell what the fuck your talking about and it's becoming more and more common. Is it just not taught anymore?
  7. If you really want to know I can explain, all you need to do is ask. I'll start with simply saying that an SSD is, actully, very similar to the technology found in the old N64 or even older SNES or NES cartridges or SD cards. Unlike CD's/DVD'S or even hard drives which need to be spun and read like an old record player SSD access the information stored almost instantly. You probably remember that N64 games loaded WAY faster than PlayStation games did back in the day, that's why. Solid State Drives are only limited by the bandwidth of the semiconductor connection, which is where NVMe comes in. A standard SATA connection is limited to about 6Gbps, a NVMe connection goes up to 32Gbps. So SATA SSD's are faster than hard drives and optical discs and NVMe SSDs are faster than SATA SSD's.
  8. Laptops have the advantage of portability of course but for gaming I prefer a desktop. Better cooling options and easier to maintain.
  9. The only thing that can improve your game is practice.
  10. That's.... actually not that hard to imagine. All she needs to do is ask him if he is aware of her work and him obviously lie about it.
  11. I have no idea if the game is going to be any good... especially with such a tired concept but the developer does seem legit (or least as legit as a developer on steam can be). The previous game "The last Roman Village" is on Steam and can be purchased.
  12. I'd like the opportunity but unlike @The Blackangel and @Shagger I don't have any experience as a moderator.

    MSI Laptops

Again, I've heard no horror stories and they seem to have fairly standard cooling setups similar to the likes of ASUS or dell. I did see a video recently with JayzTwoCents and his daughters MSI laptop overheating so he took the cooling assembly out and re-applied the the thermal paste so it seems they are at least semi self-serviceable.

    MSI Laptops

As good as anything else I suppose. I haven't heard any consistant horror stories and they seem to be a bit cheaper than eqivilent models from ASUS ROG and WAY cheaper than Alienware (not that that is saying much, their almost as overpriced as Macbooks!). There's this one for example, rocks a 6 core hyperthreaded I7 and a GTX 2060 for about $1100 on Amazon (US) which is pretty impressive. The only real issue is that it only comes with 256GB of NVMe storage so you will probably need to expand that. https://www.amazon.com/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_atf_aps_sr_pg1_1?ie=UTF8&adId=A01738099QJP62NBWXZY&url=%2FMSI-9SEXR-250-i7-9750H-RTX2060-Win10Home%2Fdp%2FB0843HCPJX%2Fref%3Dsr_1_2_sspa%3Fdchild%3D1%26keywords%3Dmsi%2Bgf65%2Brtx%2B2060%26qid%3D1595069164%26sr%3D8-2-spons%26psc%3D1&qualifier=1595069164&id=4309932562891530&widgetName=sp_atf
  15. VR is a bit of an exemption to the points I'm about to make. The whole point of VR is that it simulates being in the actual environment, so unless the game is entied "3rd Person Camera Simulator VR" it pretty much defeats the whole purpose if it is in 3rd person. I might have been a little harsh by "insane" implication but I stand by my point. The idea that someone wouldn't buy something like say... Cyberpunk 2077 for no other reason that it's in first person during gameplay despite everything every other aspect of gameplay, characters, story, setting and ideas being right up their street makes no sense to me. I have seen those kinds of complaints and it blows my mind (and no, I'm not trying to turn into a debate about Cyberpunk 2077, it's just an example). I generally like stealth/action games like Metal Gear and Assassins creed which are generally 3rd person, but Dishonored, Mirrors Edge and Chivalry Medieval Warfare are 1st person games that used a lot of these types of mechanics and ideas and they worked almost flawlessly. We can then flip the switch with shooters like DOOM, Borderlands or Call of Duty, being in 1st of course, then still see that there are tons of successful 3rd person shooters as well like Uncharted, Gears of War, SOCOM, Fortnite... the list goes on. There are even some games like the Elder Scrolls, Fallout and the aforementioned Metal Gear Sold where as far back as MGS 2 you can play through the entire game in one or the other and switch for different situations. So it's not an opinion, it's a fact. The choice of 1st person or 3rd person has no effect on how well the mechanics and systems work when it is designed well. I get there are people that just don’t seem to like games in 1st or 3rd person perspective but I’ll never understand why.
  16. I know it's early access, but this looks like alot like a shovelware clone of Full Auto or Twisted Metal to me.
  17. I don't buy games based on what perspective they are in, I actually can’t imagine why anybody sane would. Some would probably argue that shooters are better from 1st person and action games that use more melle are better from 3rd but that depends on how the game is designed WITH the perspective, not the perspective itself.
  18. People have been earning money for years or even centuries playing a whole bunch of games and sports like Darts, Pool, Combat Sports, Horse Riding, Soccer, Motorsport, track and field... the list goes on forever and I'm sure in most cases they enjoy doing it. I might consider Soccer nothing more than "a game" but I possess enough basic objectivity to realise that it is not the case for everyone, lot's of people have passion for different things. I don't follow competitive gaming in any way but by the same logic I don't see any reason it should be different. If an individual or a team practices hard to get good enough play professionally to win monetary prizes then fair play to them.
  19. I was very exited by Skull and Bones... the operative word being WAS.
  20. Is there a Kickstarter or somthing? It looks intersting but I cant find anything about this game.
  21. I think the third is the best of the three.
  22. https://www.notebookcheck.net/PS5-backwards-compatibility-Likely-PS-Now-patent-invigorates-debate-on-whether-Cerny-s-PlayStation-5-BC-graphic-was-deliberately-incomplete.480817.0.html So a recent patent suggests you will be able to play your old PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on the up and coming Playstation 5, but it's integrated in the PS Now streaming service or a virtual console rather than the on board hardware itself. Now it's worth keeping in mind that this is only a patent so it might not mean anything, big companies file patents all the time without it making it into a final product so take it with a grain of salt. It's also not quite clear whether it would require a subscription to PS Now, a digital purchase or the original disc for authentication. What do you think? Is this real backwards compatibility? Will Sony put your old games behind a paywall on the PS5? Discuss!
