  1. This so-called "Remaster" has turned out to be a massive disappointment for many and it's not hard to see why. All it seems to add is a FOV slider and upsclaing on the UI. I mean look at this! If it weren't for the text display at the top of the video I don't think I would even be able to tell which is which. Hell this looks barley even any better than the XBox 360 Version! I might have been ok with this if it was a free upgrade on steam like the Bioshock Remaster or Skyrim SE but no, they expect you to pay for this! If you already have this game on PC don't waste your money, you could mod the original for free and see bigger improvements. A wasted opportunity.
  2. A lot of AAA publishers are doing this to, especially Ubisoft.
  3. All of the Uncharted games (except for Golden Abyss on the Vita) are available on PS4, the first 3 as part of the Nathen Drake collection and Uncharted 4 as a stand-alone title. So you can play from the start quite easily if you wanted to. Not so much luck with God of War, only God of War III and God of War 2018 are on PS4. So you would have to play God of War Saga and Ascension on the PS3 or PSNow if you wanted to cover everything. If you can’t be bothered (and I wouldn’t blame you) I would just start with God of War 2018. You'r not missing all that much since it's kind of a soft reboot anyway.
  4. As far as I can tell ESPN seems to have the broadcast rights for ESports, at least the major ones.
  5. The XBox Series X is still the same, this is the Series S. Some more media has come out. The announcement date for the Series S has been confirmed to be November 10th. They haven’t confirmed the Series X yet but for now, I'd assume it to be the same. @The Blackangel the following trailer also shows the size comparison between the two.
  6. Actually that already happened about 4 or 5 years ago with the "Steam Machines". A series of the small console like mini PC's that would run Steam OS and be bundled with a Steam controller. It seemed to be a good idea, something to bridge the gap between the convenience and ease of use of a console with the flexibility and upgradability of a PC. It was, however a complete and total disaster! Valve partnered with not one or even a few hardware partners but 13! Each of them had their own version of the box with different and in some cases varying hardware configurations within their own range. This was a huge marketing blunder because it made something that was supposed to a bridge over to the much simple console market even more confusing. Not only that but they were often more expensive than the equivalent PC's and the Steam OS had (and still has) some notable limitations compared to Windows such as not being compatible certain popular games like GTA V and Skyrim. So it's not surprising they bit the dust pretty quickly, one of the more “popular” models from Alienware only sold 500,00 units in its first six months which is pretty dismal when you consider the PS4 sold double that on its first day alone.
  7. I don't care about achievements, when it comes to open world games like Assassins Creed in particular I complete as much of it as I want to. I don't push myself to find every single item or complete every single task because frankly, it is to much work in most games. I think more open world games should do what Horizon Zero Dawn did and that's actully scale things back a little, quality over quantity. I got the platinum in that game because getting wasn't an absolute marathon test of endurance and patience. So many other games Zelda BOTW and, as much I do love it, Assassins Creed Odyssey are bloated to ridiculous proportions.
  8. I agree that for the most part no, there is no point. The only reason I would even consider it is if I knew that it was a game I was DEFINITELY going to buy and that is a pretty sentiment for me these days. With that being said I don't excuse this accusatory attitude that many seem to have towards so called "Pre-Order culture" and the gamers that "buy" into it. If a game that you Pre-Order comes out and it's buggy, incomplete or falsely advertised that's the publisher's fault, not the gamers! We all know by now that Pre-Ordering is a risk, but that crap doesnt need to be shoved down people's throats when the risk doesn't pay off. It's not their fault some company through will or negligence screwed them over!
  9. https://twitter.com/Xbox/status/1303230071033880576 Not exactly the announcement we are waiting for but today XBox has officially announced that the cheaper, less powerful XBox Series S has an ERP of $299. To be honest this product seems pretty much pointless to me because at 4TFlops GPU performance this isn't even as capable as the current XBox One X. Not to mention that there are literally zero Series X/S exclusive games at launch. Hopefully, this means that we will get more official announcements regarding pricing and release date od next-gen hardware soon. Do you think this product is worth considering?
  10. With mods you can get this game to look pretty good. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition would be a good one to start with, it's a collection of mods that feature visual improvements and bug fixes.
  11. If I were to place a bet I would say Amazon, but I think any company throwing their hat in the ring right now would probably go with the streaming service route like Google Stadia or XCloud rather than releasing a piece of hardware.
  12. Sony definitly seems to have the advatage at the start, but to be honest I don't either system has a strong enough exclusive launch line up. If you discont 3rd party and cross-gen titles there's only 2 or 3 on the PS5 and I don't think the XBox Series X has any!
  13. I thnk you kind of summed it up. General gaming could apply to not just video games but also pinball, card games like Magic the Gathering or Whatever. But it does have to be said that there is so little topics on thease kind of things that it should be asked, "Are both these threads needed"?
  14. I just made a post on another thread about this. FUCK NINTENDO! Only having this so-called "Remake" on sale for six months plays right into the hands of scalping assholes. A fan was making an amazing looking full remake on Mario 64 in Unreal Engine. Instead of working with the guy they decided to issue a cease and desist and released a version that looks pretty much exactly the same as the origional. Just remember when you are sucking to this company that this what your 6 months only limited time purchase of Mario 64 Remake COULD have looked like if Nintendo swallowed their pride and gave an actual fuck.
  15. I'm going to have to disagree with you here, this whole "35th Anniversary" thing is Nintendo's excuse for taking the absolute piss. $50 for this one game handheld is insane but what's even worse is the absolute bullshit "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" that includes Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. "Remastering" (notice the quotations) is fair enough but they are only going to put these on sale for 6 months! SIX FUCKING MONTHS!!! So you gotta be fucking quick otherwise you will have no choice but to pick up a copy from an asshole scalper that they are already pushing online for $200!! This an expressly big slap ion the face to Mario 64 fans (like myself) because someone was working on a full remake of Mario 64 in Unreal Engine. But as per Nintendo standard bullshit, they sent a cease and desist when they could just simply worked with the devs and released the AMAZING looking remake. FYI: The remake looks nowwhere as good as this. Instead, we get a "remake" that looks barely any different the original and some scalper is going to charge you hundreds of dollars for. Nintendo, I have only this to say:
  16. Like you said reviews from both critics and users have been almost exclusively positive. So if the game is as good as many people are saying it is I certainly wouldn't grudge revisiting two nostalgic games for £39.99. I'm not sure if I will since there are some other games I'm considering right now but It definitely seems to be a better attempt than Robomondo's pathetic effort in 2005 with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. I've not played either myself yet but here is Dreamcast Guy's review of both games:
  17. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. It upsets me because it was developed by Crystal Dynamics who we know can make superb single player experiences as shown with their efforts on the revampt Tomb Raider. This is a sad situation where I'm certain they were in the process of designing an Avengers single player or possible co-op experience but were forced at figurative gunpoint to make a cash grab piece of shit "live service" bollocks. I've seen some reviews and it seems to be everything I feared it would be, a note for note clone of Anthem or Destiny and It pisses me off because It's obvious this studio is capable os SO much better.
  18. The only reason Epic violated the rules is because Apple wrote the rulebook. A rule book that was written by THE most greedy, monopolistic and anti-consumer company on the planet. No matter what the product or situation is they go full on "fuck over the end user" every time with their closed platform bullshit. They charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars for repairs that can be done for pennies, just so you buy a new one and they sell your repaired product to somebody else at nearly full price. You want a stand for your iMac that you already paid $5000 for for ANOTHER GRAND PLEASE! You want to actually fast-charge your $1000+ fast-charging phone, $50 PLEASE! You want a headphone jack, FUCK YOU because we say you don't and it's up to us! I am genuinely astounded that people continue to defend this company. This latest spat with Epic from both parties is possibly the most childish and pathetic display from both of them and the people it ultimately screws over the end user which neither company gives a flying fuck about. So I recommend doing yourselves a favour, stop taking sides and choose neither.
  19. You could argue that by selling to the people with most active PSN accounts that you mimnimise scalping at launch, which is certinly better that what Nintendo are doing right now. Still can't say I'm a fan though.

    Tetris

I don't have a strong opinion about Tetris, I don't take it seriously enough to warrant any love or hate. To me it's just a little time waster while your waiting for the bus or something and for that I think it's fine.
  21. I'm not sure about Valhalla. I love Vikings and Norse lore but one of the things that sold me on Odyssey was it's beautiful Greek setting and Valhalla's English setting looks kinda drab.
  22. It's not really one specific but many of the games on the original PlayStation when they came out. At the time my household could only afford to support one console and went with the Nintendo 64. I don't think we made the wrong choice since the N64 had better multiplayer options so that I and my brothers could play together but I have to admit I was a bit a fanboy and was dismissive of many of the games that came out on PlayStation. So I never got to play games like Final Fantasy VII-IX, Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania Symphony of the Night. I have played some of them years later of course but it's not the same.
  23. I did play it once back in the day for maybe an hour or two... I didn't see the appeal back then and I don't see it now. The only MMO's I've played to a reasonable extent is FFXIV: A Realm Reborn and (arguably) Destiny but with so many online games infested with greedy microtransactions and "live service" bullshit I might not ever take online gaming seriously ever again.
  24. Actually the demo is fully playable which you can see here in a video the developer posted on Chinese social media: Now obviously it's one section of the game and it still needs a ton of work, but the fact that it is playable and looks so polished this early on is a very encouraging sign.
  25. Most of you have probably never heard of this one let alone played it but the most unique game on PS2 that I played by a LONG way was Prisoner of War: You play as an American piolet during World War 2 who is shot down and captured by the Germans. While a prisoner a friend is murdered by a General and you discover a plan that could swing the course of the war in the Nazi's favor. So It's up to you to plan your escape, foil the enemy’s plans and take revenge. What makes this game unique is that unlike other WW2 games and movies around at the time (and they were bloody EVERYWHERE) which were all "Michael Bay-ed" to fuck, this features no combat at all! It's a pure stealth game where you'll be sneaking, donning disguises, hiring other prisoners to distract the guards and trading contraband cigarettes and alcohol for tools and equipment. Another very interesting aspect is that although the story itself is fictional, there are tons of elements that are historically true and accurate. This includes the locations of Stalag Luft and Colditz, the "Great Escape" plan, the Germans’ development of Rocket Weapons and even a glider in Colditz. I doubt it would ever happen but I’d love to see a remake of this with improved presentation, stealth mechanics and enemy AI.
