Nintendo is already a big video game company, they don't need to go into PC venture in order to prove that. But it's an option for them to consider in the future if they are chasing for more heights just as Microsoft entered into video game full-time.
I think so, I never bothered much playing it's online version, since it is hard to get armours I needed to use and enjoy the game via it's offline version. That tells me too, that it's online version is same, and it wouldn't make sense to suffer same fate there.
More upgrades have entered into video games, no one cares about the Gold system, since their are more to be collected around achievement side of each modern video games.
