    Justin11 reacted to Yaramaki in What are your favourite indie games of all-time?
    You're damn right it is the best indie game ever made imo Also the best farming/ life simulator game out there and since it was made by only one person  makes it even more impressive. I'd say i'd put stardew valley into my top 10 games of all time.
    Also what do folks here define under indie games, it's a term used so broadly these days, like if rocket league is considered an indie game, what about minecraft it's also something that could be considered an indie game despite being one of the most populair games out there at the moment.

    Ford Racing 2.  You'll never reach the time trial times no matter how smoothly you drive, but you get to see some legendary American cars as they would have appeared as new cars, so it's worth it.  By the way, I am still a Chevy fan, I just sometimes like Ford games.

    Justin11 reacted to Shagger in Do we need somewhere for people to "chat" instead of the amount of PM style posts going on in the forum?
    You are 100% correct. It is impossible to stop people form going off topic in discussions. It can't be done. Whether that individual is doing it on purpose to "post farm" as @Patrik described it, or because they didn't care enough actually ask themselves the question, "Is what I'm about to post worth posting?". Or, indeed, whatever it was that compelled @Justin11 to think that trying to divert a conversation on a thread about "Driver" from a relatable post about "Watchdogs" to Moto GP for... some reason. And yes, @Boblee, I did see your reply on that thread. And no, the answer is not restrictions, that's a last resort that nobody wants, at least partially because that doesn't even hit at the heart of the problem. Me, @kingpotato, and others have said it several times. The answer if for the people who do this, whether they know they are doing it or not, to stop. Stop, and think about what they post. I'm not going to repeat myself, so this is what I said earlier in this very thread.

    It isn't difficult. All everyone has to understand is that this is a forum and what that means. There is only so many more times I can say it and I have literally run out of ways too say it. The message is out there, posted by myself and others, on the forum and even through PM's for some people. Just stop, and then think about what it is you are about to post is worth. I question the choice to post or not every time as part of the process of figuring out what to say. "Is this relevant?",  "Do I need to post this?",  "What will this post add?", "Does this answer anyone's question (including a question not directly asked)? "Does this ask a question worth asking?". If I keep getting no to these questions and then be faced with the choice to post nothing, or make a post anyway that may as well be nothing, I post nothing. As does anyone with respect for the forum.

    Most of these theses posts aren't even proof read in any way, riddled with spelling errors and typos,  a true testament to how little the people that post them care about them. I know my spelling typing is atrocious, but at least I try. I have read read through this very post on no less than five occasions before deciding I was satisfied with it.

    That is all that is being asked, to think. Is that really so much?

    Yes, the topic is centred around Driver, already we're off, I'll come back to the topic, let me address something first before coming back to the topic lol.
    You aren't wrong in any way, you spoke very gentle, I'm happy you didn't attack me, you acted humble, I must applaud that. I might have gone off too, I use this medium to apologize, we learn from each other here everyday. I am not perfect, I make mistakes, I learn from them trying to improve. I learn from you too, you share quality posts everyday here at VGR, that's why admin of VGR nominated you in one of the VGR's member of the month award. If you weren't good at your posts, it wouldn't be possible then for the admin to spot you. I understand that, I do enjoy making short posts, not that I don't write long posts, but in forum like this, you share your knowledge as it pleases to you without spamming.
    I will try to read more clearly next time, to always to be on topic of discussion, and not going off, making others finding it difficult to proceed in that thread. I believe the issue is settled now, we can now keep this thread going with the original topic, which is 'Driver, xD.

    Justin11 reacted to Yaramaki in Is it most fun to be a newbie, a powerful high level character, or something in between?
    I'd say somewhere in between, the longer you are into a game and gain more abilities the easier the game usually gets. Besides games these days throw xp like their is no tommorow so you're pretty much maxed out by two thirds of the game. It may not be best example but most ubisoft games are like that, if you do everithing along the way, you pretty have unlocked every ability and reached the max level and on the standard difficulty their games are already fairly easy.

    Very awkward indeed if you're starting as a newbie, you just described my feelings. When I started gaming, I wasn't enjoying my time playing those games I fancied alot as a starter due to lack of understanding how to apply the controller diligently as it supposed to be.

    Well, there is quite a lot to get through here isn't there.

    @Justin11, this post of yours;

    Could be seen as an attempt to derail the thread. It's OK on this thread to mention Watchdogs as there is a link between that game and Driver. You could even go so far as to say Driver, or more specifically Driver 3, is the reason Watchdogs exists. I'll post more on that as a regular post once I'm done with this for anyone who is interested, but the point is there is a link. However, there is no link between Watchdogs and MotoGP, or MotoGP and Driver for that matter. They are different genre's of games and, to the best of my knowledge and research, they do not and have never shared a developer or publisher. Bringing this up here in this thread is bringing something completely unrelated. Honestly, you may as well have said this;

    And it's especially puzzling that, even by your own admission, you never played Watchdogs, so what did you have to add? We all become aware of specific game's reputation, but posting about that rarely adds to anyone's knowledge of said game, especially if they've played it and you haven't. It frustrates people who know first hand what a game is like. You had literally nothing to add, so make an excuse to post something then tried to make the conversation about a completely different game just to have something to say. In the world of forums, that's called derailing. An on VGR, it is a classic example of the "post anything to post something" mantra that has been frustrating the community lately. I can't speak for him, but I'm willing to bet it is that frustration that boiled over in @Yaramaki. So whilst I will not condone the actions of @Yaramaki (and we WILL talk about that), I can understand them. You, @Head_Hunter, @Boblee and others think there there is no harm to this? Well, here it is! Here is the harm, alongside a very familiar headache for me that goes along with it. If you want to talk about Moto GP, talk about Moto GP, on a Moto GP thread! If there isn't one, start one, it really isn't hard. I sense a very strange reluctance from those of you who post in this manner to start new threads for some reason I can't understand. You seem more content to spin other threads off course to better suit your subject manner.

    Now, @Yaramaki, like I said, your is frustration shared by many on VGR, but try to keep that reigned in. The following goes for everyone, If see something that you feel needs looked at by the mod team, report it. Calling it out and addressing it yourself on the public form will almost always only make it worse. Reporting someone is not an attempt to get anyone in trouble, it's merely calling something to our attention and nothing more. So you see, you were wrong;

    I didn't take action before this because I thought what you were doing was OK, I didn't take action because your mention of me in that post was the first I even knew about this. Since you have apologized and it seems resolved I'll take this no further, but I hope to leave this post with lessons being learned on all sides,

    Now, moving on.

    Man where do i even start with this or should i even bother, you're clearly mad at me so i'll try to explain for what it's worth. You shoulden't take everithing that people say for granted, Look up a youtube review or a trailer and then judge wheter it's a game you like it or not, we've got all different tastes and you know that's fine since it's pointless to discuss somebody their taste. I for example i'm not into mobile free to play games at all, but do you see me blindly posting in a candy crush thread and saying that the game is shit, i stay out of it because it's something i don't know a lot about and quite honestly don't really care about.
    If you really feel inclined to post then you should start phrasing it otherwise for example : While i have not played the series and From what i have read about watch dogs it isen't something i would be into or like? That would makes sense instead of this gibberish  :
    I try to read everithing clearly before i make a comment but sometimes i get annoyed by the time it takes me to filter trough all the nonesense some folks seem to love posting and the good quality posts get lost. Claiming you don't say shit i mean you're one of the most active user on vgr so that is another false claim.
    Where did i say i know everithing you may think that way but i still have a lot to learn. Besides I'm always open to learn new things in life, i even learned something from you @Justin11 you may not realise it yourself but when you posted that picture that you got a ps4 it made my day, i'm sure you were stoked as hell, like you know a kid that get's it's first console as i'm pretty sure you had that feeling.
    So what did i learn from you is that i should be more humble in life, i always take everithing for granted, while i work hard, make good money and have a good like in general that's not the case for everybody. In other parts of the world some people work much harder then me for a salary that is laughable low, you know next time i'll donate something whenever there is a good cause around that i feel okay with, instead of just ignoring it all together.
    One last thing you should really check out any watch dogs game, i'm currently playing trough the second game and must say it suprised me in a good way. Dude now that a ps4 you have an entire generation of games to catch on, what are you waiting for.
    Maybe my previous posts went a bit out of line so if you can forgive me please accept my apoligies, you seem like a good dude and i just wanted to give some good advice. I think @Shagger would have pointed it out already if i went overboard.
    Right now what was this thread about, oh right it's about driver

    Justin11 reacted to Crazycrab in Violent Games and Teen Aggression Aren’t Linked?
    This one really stretches it if you ask me.  The test was that they allowed 3 sets of children to play 3 different versions of Minecraft, one with guns and monsters, one with swords and monsters and one with no guns, swords or monsters and then put the children in a room full of toys.  Among the toys was a realistic looking gun and (big surprise) the kids that played with the gun in Minecraft tended to be drawn to the gun in real life.

    If you ask me, it seems pretty obvious that after playing a game and having fun they would be drawn to something that relates to that experience, it doesn't mean that they are more violent.  The article itself even admits:

    Yeah, this is not real life!  Also in it's conclusion it states:

    Frankly, if need research like this to tell you that then you shouldn't be breathing, let alone breeding.

    There are a lot of problems with this so let me break it down.

    I want to state first this is a survey, not an experiment.  The the "results" are based purely on what the subjects already believe.

    Secondly, despite it's title "Too much gaming makes kids aggressive,violent: Survey" as @Reality vs Adventure pointed out it barely talks about violence.  The subject mostly under discussion is video game addiction which, I will state for the record, I do consider to be a legitimate problem.  Video games should be enjoyed in moderation and should not be played to the excess that they are controlling one's life and/or effecting your health.

    This is one of only two part's that are relevant to this topic (I'll get to the other a little later):

    This is purely speculative, I could believe that children could experience desensitisation to violence when playing violent games in the same people tend to get desensitised to violence by watching violent films.  But I've seen plenty of other research that shows that it doesn't make them more violent people.

    The last thing comes back to that clickbait title again.  It is literally by the results presented by it's own survey.... A LIE!  Check this out from the article!

    By their own fucking results 81% of the survey subjects believe that video games have no negative effect on their children.  More said that video game have positive effect rather than a negative one!  So where the hell is this asshat even drawing that bullshit conclusion earlier!

    Nice job @egghead, you literally just charged down to the other end of the field and kicked an own goal!  Thank you!

    I'm going to lock this thread and only because @Boblee, you are doing this all wrong. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, then this is NOT the way go about it. You don't "call out" a mod' openly on the public forum, you make a direct complaint to the site admin, that is how it's supposed to be done. Everybody has the right to that I will fully comply with any investigation and/or action @DC feels is necessary. I am here in service to the forum, but that does mean that sometimes I am gonna do or say something without the aim of winning a popularity contest and people will not like it. That's the sacrifice I make, the price I pay, that I can't really be fiends with anyone on this forum.

    But before I lock this thread, I'm going to make few things clear. First @Boblee, these trends of posting anything just to post something, posting for points, a topic going round in circles with same people posting the same points over and over and posting on a thread between a small group using a thread like it's text chain is hurting the forum. That is what you clearly don't take seriously. And if you had bothered to check the thread I linked to you all to (here it is again), you would know why. I have been engaging with serval people over this issue and that has been a frustrating effort. Just like you have shown here, @Boblee, there has been more passion and diligence form these people in thier defence of thier actions than I ever see them put into the forum itself. If you and others cared even half as much about what you post as you did about "calling out" my actions in response, I guarantee we would not be in this situation. I called out on your attitude because you seemed to find this amusing when it defiantly is not. That attitude along with this thread you created is all the proof I need that only thing you will respond to is force. At least you seem to be taking this seriously now, so I'm actually gonna call this a step in right direction.

    At @egghead, I actually do feel like I owe you an apology. I did have a look through your post history and I'm ready omit you of any alleged wrongdoing. However, you have to understand how that looked and how serious it potentially could have been. For me though, that's the end of the matter. Just doing my job.

    Any further discussion on this can keep going on thread I linked earlier.

    Ok, I'm confused and I think you two are going to have to be a little more specific.

    There have been several games and movies across both the original and rebooted franchises, and opinions about these can be quite... divisive.
    So is it this movie (safely assuming it's not the sequel):

    Or this one:

    If you ask me, neither film was as good as it's game.  The first movie with Angelina Jolie and was just cheesy, sellout hollywood.  The other one starring Alicia Vikander was a better movie, but a worse adaptation. I hold it to a higher standard since the story in the rebooted Tomb Raider is head and shoulders above the original.
