  1. When you word in such a way as "Everything happens for a reason" to me it implies fate. The idea of karma, that what "goes around comes around", that negative things will happen to you if do things will happen if you do right. Sometimes it does of course but I don't believe that's really how the world works. Every action or inaction leads to one or more consequences which lead to further actions and so on, you can't always predict these chain of events. If you want describe these actions as a "reason" then the statement is true but if I'm going to agree or disagree with them then they need to be specific about what they mean.
  2. I can think of a few, I'll start with this one: I'll prefix this by saying I love Ninja Theory, but the changes made to this franchise and Dante's character in particular were misguided and arrogant. I think I said in another how creators shouldn't let outside influence stifle their creativity, but this pushed it to far and an otherwise decent entry to in the series earned scalding from the fans as a result. I'll just say it, Gearbox and it's CEO Randy Pitchford flat out lied about what this game would be and to this day use misleading screenshots and footage on the Steam storefront. Don't believe me, even SEGA called them out! Of course Randy Pitchford remains in complete denial and defends still defends it. There's more than this but right now I don't have time, I'll probably post something later.
  3. I like the PS4, it's clean, simple, you can access things very quickly and it's easy to customise. I'm not a fan of the XBox One's, its more cumbersome. It's panels and boxs filled mostly with Microsoft want to sell you rather that what you actually have installed. It's not terrible but It just feels like you need to navigate more than you do with to find what you need.
  4. For in game mechanics and balancing players can provide very valuable feedback, but creative choices should be up to the creators. I don't like it developers have their creative choices stifled by outside influence.
  5. I liked your review, I'd never heard of it before but it kinda sounds like a linear version of a Fallout game. I'm gonna look more into it.
  6. Did you really think Gamescom would make some announcement about Abandoned? They don't really tend do much smaller games and even if they did they wouldn't touch this with a flag pole given the ongoing controversy. The controversy by the way, and I've got to be honest, is mostly if not entirely the fault of the gamers. Sorry to say it but it's the truth. Could someone look at this trailer and explain to what the fuck is in it that indicates that it has ANYTHING to with Silent Hill, Kojima or Komami. Cause I sure as shit don't see it! There's no indication of any supernatural elements, no characters from Silent Hill and no credits from Konami or Kojima. There are tons of games that have similar elements to this that are not Silent Hill so what's special about this? From what I understand this whole thing came about because of Hideo Kojima's habit of posting cryptic clues when promoting his projects. He's done it the past with PT/Silent Hills and MGS V. Then this game gets announced that has fuck all to do with him but gamers interpret a string of coincidences in tweets and press releases as indicators of it being a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise and Kojima's involvement. Then when those coincidences turn to be just that, they blame Blue Box Studios, Kojima, Sony and everyone else except the one's actually responsible for spreading the rumours, THEMSELVES! I know some on this thread have already blamed Blu Box Studios for not "quelling" the rumours sooner, but that's total bullshit. The rumours are not their fault or their problem. If letting it go gets them the benefit of more people talking about their game then I don't blame for taking advantage. Unless they were actively and intentionally being misleading which as far as I can tell they never did. Not to mention this studio also has a history of being cryptic and secretive in their promotional material, so I wouldn't expect them to spell things out about their game when that's not thier normal strategy. I'll post YongYea's video down below which has more details but this is truly pathetic. Don't get wrong some of theory's are compelling and some of coincidences seem unlikely to have come about by chance at their face value. But, and I've said it time and time again, don't believe anything that doesn't come from the horse's mouth. If your disappointed it's your own fault for buying into unconfirmed rumours. Now please stop playing the victims.
  7. I'm not saying he did, although he technically didn't. You can garnish roast chicken with a lot of different things and I'm not going to bother going down the road of if you prefer gravy, roast potatoes, mash, peas, peppers, dynamite or whatever.
  8. Poker is about bluffing, like getting players to fold when you have a weak hand or keep them playing and paying into the pot when you have a strong one. There aren't that many other games, even in gambling where this strategy applies.
  9. Fried fish, I like chicken but I prefer it in curries and other spiced dishes. Roasted is a little plain for me.
  10. I know it depends on the game and all but I did play FFXII on the PCX-2 emulator a few years ago (before new Zodiac versions came out) and it was stable.
  11. I think the examples here fall under the category of social commentary, in particular with how Franklin (GTA V) is treated. Definitely an interesting read.
  12. The release date for Horizon Forbidden West has just been revealed at Gamescom: The game was originally advertised to come out this year but it has been delayed to February 18 2022. I've suspected that this would be delayed to Q1 2022 for quite a while but I didn't say anything because until now it was just speculation. I'm actually kinda glad this was delayed, I wouldn't even mind if it was delayed a little longer. Considering that the first game was in development for 6 or 7 years, then after that they spent most of the rest of 2017 working on the DLC. Then the less than 3 years since 2018 didn't seem like enough to me, especially with the pandemic. I know that the sequel doesn't need as much time since the development tools and some of the assets are already made but still. In addition to this they also revealed a performance patch for the PS5 version of Horizon Zero Dawn that unlocks 60FPS. https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/amp/horizon-forbidden-west-release-date-delayed-to-february-2022/
  13. Even if you get a physical copy of a game on PC, most of the time all that's on the disc is code and link for a digital version anyway.
  14. I thought this quiz was kinda fun if your a fan of Brooklyn 99, especially with the final season just coming out. I think it's legit one of funniest shows on TV, but without being afraid of tacking touchy and controversial subjects. https://whatculture.com/tv/brooklyn-nine-nine-quiz-can-you-fill-in-the-gaps-of-these-captain-holt-quotes/ I scored 87% on my first attempt.
  15. How many people do you meet or play as in these games aren't criminals, or at least unethical... Damn near nobody and that's regardless of race. You play as a criminal and almost everyone you meet are gangsters, dirty cops, corrupted politicians, greedy business tycoons, asshole celebrities or just generally kind of dicks. Exactly, there not pinning the identity of criminals on the playable characters because of their race, their doing because it's GTA! It is worth noting that a lot of the characters in this franchise are very stereotypical, but again it's not racially motivated.
  16. 7200 RPM would work fine as well, as long as it's not a thick profile (9.5mm or less). If you wanted to boost your load times you could also go with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
  17. That's all really sad. I enjoy my games but but I don't care what accessories you use and I certainly don't fell "affection" towards electronics and game companies that give a crap that I exist.
  18. I don't think I can really answer that because I can't picture a situation where kicking someone in the ribs would save thier life and explaining why would kill them. It would just never happen. It would be like explaining how to send a probe to Mars from the flat fucking Earth! You can't get to logic when you're starting from complete bullshit.
  19. I think it would be a much shorter list of celebrities that would make a decent one!
  20. You see a lot of hero's that are larger the life characters, especially in video games. That's fine but it doesn't suit every narrative. Take somone like Duke Nukem for example, you could argue that he's cut from the cloth as Lara. He's an exaggerated caricature of everything a man wants to be. Muscular, rich, surrounded by beautiful woman... You get idea. But do really take him seriously? No. It's a character that wouldn't work in a game where your expected to get emotionally attached or invested. He's a joke, and we know he's a joke. The old Lara was the same. Not every hero needs to be something to one aspires to be. In many, and I'd even dare to say most narratives require a hero that's more down to earth a sympathetic.
  21. Except she already mentioned Ms Pac-Man, so it's clear that's not what she was saying. You were intentionally being selective. When I read it the idea the I got (@The Blackangel is free to correct me if I got the wrong idea) was the Lara Croft was the first playable character to popularize the concept of female leads. Unfortunately it achieved this by still pandering to the male audience with an over-sexualised depiction of a woman. All of which is 100% true.
  22. She never said it was, don't put words in people's mouths. With that being said, outside of tournament fighters like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat (where the rosters were still mostly male) the only pre Lara Croft popular female human character that I can think of is Samus from Metriod, even that was kept under wraps until the end of the first game. Playable female characters was NOT a common thing at all back then. I'm sure there other games that I can't think of but to say female characters were rare is not "pure revisionist history", it's the truth.
  23. There's no doubt about it, the Elder Scrolls 6 WILL be exclusive to XBox consoles and Windows PC. It probably won't be on Steam either, it will be on Windows store and/or Bethesda's own launcher. Microsoft did not spend $7.5 billion on Zenimax to give their business rivals a piece of the pie. Oh will you cut it out! Not every single fucking decision made on planet earth winds back to right wing politics. This, for example, is just business. We are all aware that that republican politicians accept what what are essentially corporate bribes but guess what, democrats do it to! This is getting really annoying.
  24. I made a comment recently about the idea of using games to make a positive impact on people, and here we've got someone actually doing it! Thanks for sharing this, I'm sick and tired of media constantly trying to convince everyone that "people do bad things because video games". Yet these same assholes never mention "people do good things because video games". It's a proven fact that video games and other entertainment media don't change people in such extreme ways as to turn them into killers, but it might dissuade people from drugs or other addictions.
  25. Arcades aren't much of a thing in the UK anyway. The only places I've ever seen them are holiday parks, tourist towns, bowling alleys, that sorta thing. So I'd wager they haven't been affected any worse that anything else in the leisure and tourism industrys.
