A game with incredible immersion?

What's one game that caught your attention so hard that you forgot you're in a chair in front of your computer, or whatever you use for gaming? A game that captivated you completely and left you wanting for more, a game that had that WOW factor you've seen nowhere else.

When I first played Minecraft I forgot to eat at first. I loved the game so much that the only thing I wanted to do is to play it.

For me, Bethesda games have that je ne sais quoi. Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4 are all great games that immerse you in interesting worlds. Not played Skyrim VR, but I imagine that would be immersive af.

This has...absolutely never happened to me.

I've been sucked into an oblivion in the way of 'wanting to keep playing' a game. But I'm always at least conscious of what I'm neglecting to do.

The Sims was a bit like that for me recently, getting back into it.

But meh, I'm already over it.

For me it was FTL. It's amazing how such a game immersed me more than anything I've played. I also experienced it with another similar game, Tharsis. Don't know why space journey games like that trigger my imagination 😛

1. Dota 2

2. RDR2

3. Diablo 3

4. Call of Duty: Warzone

How is COD Warzone immersive? I'm curious because it doesn't strike me as a very immersive game. If anything, it's far more casual.

I don't really know what others think about COD Warzone, but it's definitely captivating for me.

The Mass Effect trilogy is really the first game series that I actually became emotionally invested in. Everything worked for me: building the "perfect" squad for whatever the situation called for, pursuing friendships with my crew, probing the galaxy for resources, immersing myself in the culture of whatever planet I was on, the list goes on and on. A video game had never made me shed tears of laughter, joy and sorrow before that trilogy.

Great, now I'm going to have to start it all over again.

God hand, Mortar Kombat, Grand theft Auto (San Andres) etc, all caught my attentions. But the one that made my time more blissful that I spent most time playing is 'Mortar Kombat.

Seriously - with Kombat play early in my childhood days, I never really got enough. There were days when I played almost all day.
