  1. I'm going to bring this up again because the past few weeks i've been experiencing the dark side of gaming aka fortnite first hand and no i diden't play it myself. I was going to post this in @kingpotato is it wise to spend on free to play thread but you locked it and probably for good reason because it was a cesspool. Why i'm bringing this up again because i have to change my oppinion and i'm man enough to admit that i've been wrong.I've been blinded by just bargain hunting and sales for mostly single player games and how long they take to complete vs how long a game from 25 years ago last as argument. So yeah @Shagger you're right and you know the past few weeks have opened my eyes completly if you care to read a little longer i'll explain below : The past two saturday afternoons i sat down with my girlfriend her 10 year old son. Who needless to say is addicted to fortnite, i'll admit i know nothing about fortnite other then that it's free to play and that it's pretty much everywhere. The game looks fine and all, it's not something i would play personally but taste differ, i just wanted to know more about how far this whole free to play thing goes, what better way to watch a kid play and ask some stuff along the way. Now i don't know if this is the case with every kid but having these rare skins is like a sign of wealth aka feeling better then a kid who doesen't play as a rare paid skin and that disgusts me. The fact that my gf her son was called out by his "friends" for having a socalled louzy skin that he has been using for months made me pissed. It's like these skins are more important then the game itself. You know kids can be really harsh for eachother, we have all been there. I obviously tried to cheer him up but you know the kid has been trough some harsh times, lost his dad when he was 4 and is pretty much raised alone by my girlfriend for the past 6 years. I felt bad for him and In all my stupidity i said fuck let's one up on your friends and tell me what skin do you want the most, fucking 20 bucks in v-bucks or whatever it's called for a cosmetic skin. The little dude was chuffed to bits and i want to be on his good side if i want this relationship to succeed. Obviously it only costed me 20 bucks the be the socalled most awesome person ever in his oppinion but to me it felt like selling my soul to the devil. And that is why i changed my oppinion, could have been phrased a little shorter but you know can't leave the details out.

  2. My vote is for one of our newer members @Grungie. Not gonna lie, it's unlikely that you'll agree with everything he has to say, but with the amount of thought for quality and foresight and the amount of himself he puts into what he posts, that warrants respect. So despite a couple of rough moments in these early stages, I'm glad to see him here. It's hard to explain, but I felt like this forum needed you @Grungie, so welcome.

  4. Anybody else had this problem where even if you have the time to sit down and play games for a couple of hours you just don't feel like doing? I'm going trough such a phase right now i think, played watch dogs 2 and legion back to back probably shoulden't have done that, i started playing trough the story of the "next gen" version of gta 5 and play a mission or two i just shut the game off and do something else, while it's still one of the best games ever made i'm not really feeling it right now. I don't know what the problem is with this kind of weather i much rather go out hiking whenever i possible can which is my other main hobby. I got burned out on collecting video games a few times where i take a break from buying anything for a few months but with gaming i never really had this problem. I'm currently installing civilization vi as i haven't played an rts in ages, in hopes it gets me stoked again on gaming.

  7. I hear you. At least with something like Gamepass there's a console or PC with games to play on them left to fall back on. With stadia, the collapse of it's service leaves you with nothing left that's useful after your investment.

  10. I hate Stadia and other streaming platforms like it because of what they'll do to the industry and data ownership if they ever succeed. They need to be crushed out of existence.

  11. Yeah, it's been discussed severally here. As for those who keeps on investing ridiculously around Fortnite, that's their choice but I'll simply say, the choice isn't normal. Because, it is just like throwing away money when it should be utilized in solving other gaming needs.

  14. All the time, it's why I frequently critique games for being too long. Especially in today's market, too many games go for too long without helping realise the developers' artistic vision, be it publisher pressure to monetise and market it, or the lack of an editor/compromise with an editor who will make the necessary calls to trim it down to its best parts. That's usually single-player games though. Multiplayer games like World of Warcraft have me take huge breaks because I have the time to do the content, but it's 'gated', meaning the game will not let me progress even though I'm available to do it. For all this "always online" business, games sure want me to be online less and less. I wish I could tell you when gameplay took a backseat for retention, but I fear that goes back further than I'd like it to (see arcade machines).

  17. Last I checked, XBox Series X/S was outselling the PS5. I think that's how things are going to play out this time around, especially if the chip shortage lasts until the mid-2020s. XBox will have slightly higher sales, but sales of both consoles will be low compared to last gen. I don't think either will crack 60 million.

  19. That's true mate, I only spent about $10 or less on fortnite and the price got to this value because I got interested in the Fortnite X Marvel zero war comic book and it comes with a digital to unlock the spider Man zero outfit with it as well and I bought the comic for $5.99.

  21. I only uninstall a game only if and when the Flying Spaghetti Monster tells me too. Praise Be! It just so happens that he only commands me to do so when I'm done with a game or if I need the space, but that's just because he is wise.

  27. One single game or in my case the flight simulator can be very costly. Base pack is like £60 then you have payware addons from aircrafts and airports scenery can cost. this month I have paid around over $150 just in payware aircrafts. Fenix A320 Flightsim B146 PMDG 737 Video games are only getting more complex and require more skill to produce so it makes sense that the prices are going up. I don't like how expensive games have become but I don't see full releases going up much higher in price. It would be really hard to justify the purchase of a 100 game for a lot of consumers even after you account for inflation.

For the what I promise will be the only time I take this thread seriously (Sorry @DC, but I don't think I'd be doing this right if I didn't least try to take the piss a little bit) posting suggested images could be little awkward here given the file size limit of avatar images on VGR, and that limit is around 500kb. For example, a direct upload of an avatar the correct size onto VGR would look like this; But it is possible for it to look like this on thread; This just make the image look better on the thread, but it's obviously the first image that's the one that will be used in the end. GIF's will also look smaller, here's my avatar uploaded directly to the forum page. So it's all worth bearing in mind.
