  1. I'm a huge fan of Sony's unloved handheld. From its raft of top-notch JRPGs, to its vibrant indie scene, to it's limited but still accomplished selection of AAA games, there's something for everyone on Sony's diminutive console. So for those out there who're passionate about the PS Vita: What are your favourite titles on the system? Mine are Darkest Dungeon, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Killzone: Mercenary, Demon Gaze, Dungeon Travelers 2, Limbo, Undertale and Super StarDust Delta. (phew!) Keen to hear ya thoughts!
  2. Aye, Primrose has an incredible story--it reminds me a lot of Arya Stark from Game Of Thrones. Hmm, I think Naughty Dog's Uncharted series has some strong and iconic characters. Telltale's The Walking Dead, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human all have very fully fleshed out characters, as well. They all genuinely feel like real people, which is a hell of a feat for a video game to achieve.
  3. I've probably said this a few times already, but I think one of my more controversial opinions is that I just couldn't get into one of the most highly rated games of 2017: Super Mario Odyssey. It just didn't click for me, and I feel that the nostalgia probably clouded many people's judgement for that game. That said, getting fun out of nostalgia is fine--there's nothing wrong with that. I will try and give it a second chance once I get my backlog in order!
  4. It sometimes feels like I'm swimming against the tide with my backlog. There's just not enough hours in the day!
  5. It's gotta be Snake! Snaaake! SNAAAAAAAAKE!
  6. I feel weird for saying this but the latest Mario hasn't clicked with me. I usually love Mario games but Mario Odyssey is just underwhelming for me tbh.
  7. I enjoyed Super Star Wars on the SNES back in the day. The Battlefront games on PS2 were pretty damn good as well.
  8. Great games with top-notch writing and characters. Even though there's not a huge amount of traditional gameplay involved I'd still recommend playing them yourself instead of watching them on YT ideally. Some of the choices are very personal ones, and it's awesome sculpting your very own, unique story.
  9. I'd highly recommend FTL: Faster Than Light and Pony Island on PC. Awesome games and can be picked up for pretty cheap these days.
  10. The classic fantasy board game, Hero Quest, was turned into a game on Amstrad CPC 464 back in the day. Absolutely loved it. I mean, look at the box art of the board game. It's freakin' AWESOME!
  11. - The twist at the end of Silent Hill 2 was a gut-punch of the highest order. You literally discover that you've been playing as a murderer the entire time. Seriously had to put the controller down and have a cigarette after that. - The opening and the end of The Last Of Us legit made me well up. - The death of Reuben the pig in Minecraft Story Mode still haunts me to this day.
  12. The Hotline Miami series, FTL: Faster Than Light, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas all have INCREDIBLE soundtracks. About half of the music I listen to these days is music from video games. We're pretty lucky these days. Also, old-school stuff like Super Mario World and the Silent Hill series also had bodacious soundtracks.
  13. If you like Horizon Zero Dawn, perhaps check out Dark Souls or Bloodborne, maybe? Slightly different games, I know, but I think the moment-to-moment combat is better in the Soulsborne games than HZD. Also, The Witcher 3 might be worth a look, too.
  14. Oh, and Fallout 76 looks like it's shaping up well, too. That's high on my list, as well.
  15. Aye, I'm a sucker for Call Of Duty so Black Ops 4 is high up on my most anticipated list. RDR2 looks great, but personally I'm not a huge fan of Westerns or Rockstar games in general. Sure it'll be awesome for those who dig it, though. Cyberpunk 2077 looks rad, but I'll be very surprised if it launches in 2018. Wasteland 2 just launched today on Switch and I've been pretty pumped for that. Will pick it up after I've finished some things on my schedule. Also, Darkest Dungeon's DLC 'The Colour Of Madness' should be coming soon to console, hopefully. Really looking forward to that, too.
  16. Great question. I'd opt for either FTL: Faster Than Light or Skyrim.
  17. I had the SEGA one on the PS3 way back when and enjoyed playing some of the classics like Golden Axe, Altered Beast and Streets Of Rage. Funnily enough a new Streets of Rage 4 has just been announced. Crazy, right?
  18. The PS4 controller is dope but I think the best controller has to be the xbox 360/Xbox One version. Many people like the Switch Pro controller but I haven't had a chance to go hands on with it yet.
  19. I personally love COD. It's my go-to shooter of choice. The MP is addictive and the zombies mode is a ton of fun with friends. Also, it has split screen which is rare in games these days. Been hooked since COD 4: Modern Warfare and never looked back since.
  20. Absolutely! PS has arguably the best first party lineup in the business. The exclusives are top-notch and luckily PS4s are pretty cheap these days. Worst case scenario, just pick up a refurbished PS4 for cheap and work your way through the exclusives that way. Happy gaming!
  21. Super Mario World on SNES. But also have some obscure Amstrad CPC 464 games like Fantasy World Dizzy, Bomb Jack etc.

    Xbox Game Pass

I think it's an amazing deal on paper but don't have an XB1 to try it out (I sold mine last year). May pick up a XB1 Slim sometime as they're often super cheap. Will try it then.
  23. Gonna boot up Skyrim later this week and check out all these places to remind myself! Thanks for this 🙂
  24. My vote would go to Skyrim or even Oblivion (even though both can be a wee bit janky at times). Both have amazing vistas that beg for you to just stop and gawk at. Also, some games are beautiful *stylistically*, like LIMBO or INSIDE.
  25. I really want to play Persona 5 (I loved Persona 4 Golden on Vita) but it's such a *huge* time commitment. Seriously, the thought of a 100+ hour JRPG gives me anxiety atm. I still need to finish 4, honestly. I'm like 40 hours into 4, so maybe I should go back to that before pulling the trigger on P5.
