  1. I think you missed the rest of the lyrics.
  2. This brings up another point I've been meaning to bring up. I have an issue with this forum on my phone that I don't understand. Almost every time that I come here, after a few minutes of reading posts my phone will start loading some new page either saying I've won some prize on Google, or that my phone is infected. Pressing the back button doesn't work so I have to close the window and come back. And it's only the VGR forum. Absolutely no other site online that I have been to or go to gives me this issue. My phone is not infected, that much I know for a fact. @DC do you have any idea what's causing what I'm experiencing? I'm on another forum that's Invision, and don't have this problem there. It's ONLY here on the VGR forum.
  3. Agreed, but when they take a tragedy and try to make a love story out of it, then it's simply going too far. Titanic and Pearl Harbor are two prime examples. There were a lot of WW2 veterans that were enraged by the movie Pearl Harbor. My maternal grandfather was one. He went completely ballistic when it came out. I've never seen anyone so pissed off in my life. I was genuinely scared and stayed away from him for several years. I was never comfortable around him anyway, but that cinched it. The same was for Titanic. There were a few Titanic survivors still alive, and they went ballistic too. And rightfully so for those involved with both events.
  4. It’s a pretty even match between Zelda and FF8 for me. Both feature some of the most amazing and imaginative creations I’ve ever seen.
  5. Zelda A Link To The Past I don’t know why, but I have always known that I could be content and possibly even happy living in Links house.
  6. Jack in RDR2. He’s about 4 years old, and at one part his mom asks Arthur to spend some time with him. So the two go fishing. While at the creek, Jack picks some flowers and binds them together to make a necklace for his mom. Anyone who sees that part will remember their childhood and remember doing the same thing themselves.
  7. The Last Of Us People here have recommended it left and right, but I have never actually played it. ———————— Skyrim I’m not sure if this really counts, but I have barely touched it. After escaping the dragon in the beginning, I may have an hour if time in the game. I’m in some town needing to talk to the jarl. Yet you guys talk about things in the game and I don’t have a damn clue you’re talking about. So for my severe ignorance and microscopic experience with the game, I think it qualifies for this thread.
  8. First off, a good reason to even enter, preferably on an optional basis. Second, a changing setup instead of sticking to one theme for the entire dungeon. Third, multiple variations of enemies to face including unique enemies only found in said dungeon. Fourth, consequences to all choices. Both positive and negative consequences. Fifth, a justifiable level of difficulty. Not a cruel difficulty level (Zelda ROM-hacks) but not something so easy it could be played in your sleep. Something that easy typically offers no entertainment, as there’s no accomplishment. It’s why there are several of my favorites that I burn out on extremely quickly. I’m too good at them because I’ve played them so damn much. But above all, a good challenge, and a sense of accomplishment afterwards. An item or treasure is always great too.
  9. I actually have been learning to play dominoes thanks to RDR2. You can also play blackjack and poker in the game. The poker version is Texas Hole ‘Em I think. I’m not 100% on that though. Granted, the pot is a lot smaller than it would be today, but that’s due to the value of the dollar 120 years ago being higher. Five cents then was like five dollars now.
  10. About any Philips TV is great. They were the best and never let me down. When flat screen TV’s came out I made a dumbass move and sold mine to get the money for a flat screen. I regret it now, especially since they’re difficult to find. But if you can find one, snatch it up quick. I can promise you won’t regret it.
  11. One that I would say is the final Nightmare in Links Awakening. You have to go through all those dam forms, and be pretty acrobatic at it with the last one. It's not a difficult boss, but still a pain. The hardest form it takes is the one that resembles Ganon in A Link To The Past, with the twirling scepter or whatever it is. Major pain in the ass. Trying to aim Bowser at those god damn bombs in Mario 64 is about as tedious as it gets. Morpha and Koume/Kotake fights are another pain. Trying to hook the amoeba in the fight against Morpha drives me nuts, and then trying to hit the sisters with their own magic reflected back at them is nothing short of insanity inducing.
  12. I'm surprised to see a dark border on the cards. As far as I know they haven't done that since first gen. Borders have always been white since then. But then again I haven't played in at least 15 years, so I could be way off on that one.
  13. If they announce beforehand that they are going to play like that to try to motivate everyone to do their best, then bullies can be a help. It's kinda like a spotter at the gym. You hear them talking about things like "jelly rolls" and whatnot when they are pushing the person they're spotting. The bit of anger they can cause gives a small rush of adrenaline, which makes them push harder. So some minor bullying in game, as long as it isn't personal attacks, can be beneficial. As long as it's like an angry spotter, or constructive criticism. But that aside, as a general rule, bullying is never acceptable no matter the setting.
  14. I have to add some more. +++++++++++++++++++++++ The Ninth Gate Nightmare On Elm Street (series) Hellraiser (series) Sweeny Todd The Gravedancers The Prophecy Pet Sematary (original) Tommyknockers Sometimes They Come Back +++++++++++++++++++++++ These two are technically not horror movies, but I feel they deserve an honorable mention. Sleepy Hollow Fear
  15. I would say we can only hope, but hope is a fools errand.
  16. Anymore when I burn out, I tend to read and/or write articles on different things. I'm working on a freelance article that I'm wanting to submit to Astronomy magazine when it's done. I'm hoping they'll publish it. Or I'll work on one of my fiction stories if the bug bites.
  17. I couldn't say, as there are so many trading card games now. Back when I played there was only Pokemon and MTG. Yu-Gi-Oh! didn't even exist at the time. Some of the players now can build decks that can decimate their opponents in two turns, or even one turn. It's a brutal game. At the moment I only have one card that I'll never let go of. I won the sportsman card in a FNM tournament I played in. I'm willing to part with the rest of my cards if the price or trade is right, but I'm not letting go of that one.
  18. This is mainly a question to @DC but have you considered making an app for VGR? I don't know what all goes into something like that, but I haven't seen anyone bring it up. If possible, I think it would be a neat idea.
  19. I’m not interested, and I’m a classic gamer.
  20. @Shagger put it about as perfectly as it can be put. Copyright infringement is a serious offense. Sure some might call it free advertising, but Nintendo doesn’t need any help advertising one of their most successful and longest running series. If the kart company had just signed a contract of some kind with Nintendo, then they would both be raking it in. You would probably have to reserve your Yoshi costume ahead of time.
  21. I played Magic The Gathering when I was younger. The last time I played was 8th gen though, so its obviously been a very long time. I played a blue/white deck. I just wasn’t particularly good with any other mana.
  22. There's one person who wasn't mentioned in the list. @DC Thank you for creating and running a forum for gamers to come together and discuss all areas of gaming. From retro/classic gaming to current gen, mobile, and PC gaming. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. So many of us would be completely out of the loop on things if it wasn't for VGR and the work you do. Hell I personally wouldn't even know what the PS5 and Xbox X/S look like. Assuming I knew that they had been released. So many of us have been introduced to games we otherwise wouldn't have known about. We have been able to broaden our horizons here at VGR. And it's thanks to you.
  23. I honestly haven't ever seen a listed estimate on time it would take for any game. Maybe I'm not reading the right reviews or something. But then I don't pay attention to most reviews anyway. As for me, it truly depends on the game itself. My first run through RDR2 took several months because I wanted to explore everything. But then with games that I have been playing for several decades, I can usually blow through them in just 3-4 hours, unless the game itself is a particularly long or short game. Then the time will vary from that. For example, I can beat Zelda A Link To The Past on SNES from beginning to end in roughly 2-3 hours. I have a relatively short attention span, that's why it would take me that long. Even right now I have it paused as I'm typing this. But for longer games like FF8, it will take me maybe a week or two. That's because I get bored playing it after a while and have to save and shut it off. I haven't played it for a couple months as I completely burned out on it. I'm actually burned out on gaming a bit to be honest. With games that don't have a save feature, that is completely random. Some may take ten minutes and others may take ten hours. It all depends on the difficulty and style of the game, and whether or not I'm rusty at playing it. For example I used to be able to beat the first 3 Mortal Kombat games on SNES at the hardest setting without even trying. Now I can't get through one fight on the easiest setting. RUSTY. AS. HELL.
  24. Cid in FF8 is a complete coward. He talks big as if he was a fighter in his youth, but when things start to go down, he runs away. He even admits it later on in disc 3. At least he recognizes that he is a coward, but damn it's annoying. he sends teenagers out to fight and die, but he hides like a scared little child hiding from the boogeyman.
  25. Pretty much any fighting game. They make me laugh these days. I remember as a kid that amongst gamers, your value was determined by how good you were at a fighting game. Typically Mortal Kombat. Sometimes Street Fighter II or Killer Instinct, but mostly MK. Now I look at these games and remember how dumb we all were as kids to base value and worth by skills at a video game.
