Couldn't agree more. Goldeneye is without doubt a beloved classic, but it's probably aged about as badly as any game I know with the single analogue stick control and enemy AI that's as dumb as a felled tree. You needed look as far forward as a modern day Battlefield of Call of Duty to see how far the FPS has come since then even Perfect Dark on the same console feels way further ahead. Still, nostalgia is what it is and it hasn't stopped this from happening. This is a game showcased at the PC Gaming Show this year. I mean, I loved Goldeneye as a kid, but come on, guys! You didn't have copy everything right up to it's outdated looks, the AI and give all the guns the same beyond basic reload animation like Goldeneye had. I will admit I like the idea of the function that I assume you use to create your own multiplayer maps, that is cool.

The ProController for Atari Jaguar is by far the least and wired controllers they made I used. By adding number pad in the controller, it made Atari's Jaguar controller too big and to make matters worst, the number pad was hardly used for any game playing.

Yeah the early 2000s were a good time for gaming, especially 2003-2004 and 2005. Those years brought a ton of great games. 2005 for example brought us RE4. We also got Guitar Hero for the first time, and we all know how that turned out. If anything, I'd say 2001-2010 were some of the best years in gaming.

Blockbuster was really a big deal back then. But I must confess that I'm really enjoying Netflix right now.

Hello everyone!  Just joined this place and having a look around.  It is sooooooo hot where I live. It's been over 100 degrees everyday for like a week.  I know we go through this every year but I still can't get used to it.

    1) All aspects of gaming are in discussion here, which means that there is no shortage of knowledge.
    2) The forum is well organized, and easy to search.
    3) It's a very laid back atmosphere. You can poke fun at each other and no one takes it to heart.
    4) It's a very welcoming place unlike many other forums.
    5) Unlike other forums, the owner offers auctions to win prizes.

None of this PC bullshit. People could say what's on their minds, and everyone was fine with it whether they agreed or not. Now if you say "Boo" at someone you're looking at trouble for threatening someone. Like WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK???? Are you that much of a pussy that you can't handle someone speaking? And don't get me started on the whole "Speak English" bullshit that keeps going on. I'm in the process of learning a few languages just to piss these people off. Among other reasons.

I didn't actually buy them - not intentionally anyways. I used to love certain gaming magazines and when I got them, they may or may not have had codes for games I owned at the time.

I'd say any Dark Souls game and I'd add Elden Ring since it was made by the same company, You have to be on your guard all the time and you can't underestimate anyone/anything as that seemingly harmless thing turns out to be what kills you. On top of that, in Dark Souls games, you can't really pause either so it is quite stressing....

I actually tried re-watching some of the older stuff, Voltron to be specific, and it's hard. The animation and stories are really simple and you would need to be a kid to enjoy it again.

Death threats are never acceptable, I'm not defending that kind of behaviour.

With that being said CD Project did make one huge mistake that they have only themselves to blame for that resulted in all the chaos and pressure.  They announced the (Initial) release date a full year ahead.  In this day and age where games are more than complicated, expensive and difficult to produce than ever before that was a ridiculous decision.  Even if we didn't take into COVID pandemic (which did no doubt affect production and was beyond their control) it's incompressible to think you predict the progress of production 12 months ahead.  But of course you gotta get those pre-orders in and they completely took advantage of the good will they established with their earlier releases.

If only they had waited to announce the release date until they were confident it was almost ready.  They would have taken the time they needed, announced it a few months before release with my maybe one forgivable delay, two at most and that whole entire shitstorm would never have happened.

I'm sure I've said it before but I'll it again.  The issue is not delays, it's announcing to early.  Thankfully I think most devs/publishers have now realized that and are way more cautious when it comes to release date announcements.

Surprised nobody said Destiny yet. Top of the line AAA graphics, amazing gunplay, competent multiplayer but it all kinda added up to... meh. Obviously the story was a hot mess but that wouldn’t have been an issue if the gameplay were more interesting. You can blame the writing for that. Basically every spoken line in the game was either merely informational or filler. They built this awesome world, and then told you nothing about it. Instead you just listen to dumb jokes all day long.

This has to be my absolute favourite topic brought up on the forum, and yet I strongly doubt I can do it justice in response. I'll give it a go.
Spyro Fusion/Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (Vicarious Visions, 2004)
It was the dream crossover for the Playstation One: Spyro and Crash Bandicoot working together to defeat their most hated nemeses, Ripto and Dr. Neo Cortex, respectively. In The Cortex Conspiracy, Spyro took on Crash's antagonist. Sounds fun enough: the two have had cameo appearances in each other's games, from the Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped demo being available in Spyro: Year of the Dragon, to Spyro appearing as a playable character on Crash Nitro Kart on Game Boy Advance. The problem is the crossover came over four years too late, which is particularly bad when a working and fairly competent game could be released in 8-12 months. Furthermore, this wasn't on systems where the characters' designs could be realised with greater graphical fidelity, but instead the concept was made for the Game Boy Advance.
The concept not being fully realised due to the technical limitations of its sytem is one thing, but the execution was also bad. A constant complaint I have with Spyro and Crash is the unnecessary amount of vehicles in platform games (full disclosure: link is to my Let's Play of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly), and the Fusion games are nothing but vehicular mini-games. They're not particularly good either, the game only being more favourable over Crash Fusion/Purple: Ripto's Rampage because the vehicles control slightly less shoddily than Crash's mini-games.
So why is this game less than the sum of its parts? Some of the vehicles stages perform better compared to their console counterparts in Enter the Dragonfly and later A Hero's Tail. But the main reason is the fact this is the first Spyro sidescroller which worked incredibly well, especially in contrast to the Season of Ice/Flame games earlier released. It wouldn't be until The Legend of Spyro on Game Boy Advance where we'd see it again, except now with health bars, enemies requiring multiple hits and breath weapons... again, the consoles doing all that already in full 3D.
Its music is phenominal to say Spyro veteran Stewart Copeland (yes, the drummer and founder of The Police) didn't make it. Instead we have Martin Schjøler to thank for the smooth audio beats, meanwhile making crunchier, upbeat tunes for Crash Fusion. Its graphical fidelity is also pretty good, doing a better job of matching the style of Spyro than previous games. Its story isn't half bad either, with frequent updates between Crash and Aku-Aku, and Spyro and Sparx on their next moves and their progress in their respective games.

This is the first game that I'll probably mention here. I'll come back with another game, hopefully without risking clogging up the page, but I'd like to contribute more to a question I'm deeply interested in and when I've got more time to type.
Thanks again for posing this question. Never would've thought to ask it myself!

Of course it is real - it's a contact sport. I've done martial arts as a kid and ended up with a broken arm during a tournament final. I did win the final but it took my hand two months after to be fully functional again.

That isn't really hard to do to be honest. I mean, Bethesda has been using the same game engine for close to a decade and it has been used as the basis for a few games made by people who started out as Skyrim modders.
