  1. There's been several topics about basically the same thing, so I decided to just merge them together. I apologise for any confusion this has caused.
  2. Maybe that's what you should have said...
  3. "Did anyone know that for the first year and a half McDonalds were unable to have meat patty's in their hamburgers? I heard from a talking gherkin in my sleep, so it must be true. Of course they were wildly successful anyway, so why wouldn't history repeat itself?" Google CEO, Sundar Pichai
  4. In fact, it makes perfect sense. What's most important is that the console gets into your home. Once it's there, Microsoft (or Sony, because they don't make money on selling the PlayStation console itself either) can then sell you games, accessories, subscriptions and so on. Say you buy an Xbox Series X, then over the course of just the first year you have bought mayby 8 games, a second controller, a DLC here and there and a year of XBL Gold. I can all but garentee you that, even if was a $200 loss on the console itself, Microsoft would be in the black by the time that year is out. That's how consoles make money. That's also why PC's are much more expensive because manufacturers of PC components don't see a penny from the sales of games, subscriptions and other software and have to make that mark up through the hardware itself.
  5. According this article from PC Gamer, Xbox business development vice president Lori Wright speaking as a witness in the Apple vs Epic trial (as discussed HERE) when asked what Microsoft profit margin for Xbox consoles, she replied (I am paraphrasing a bit) "We don't have a profit margin on Xbox Consoles. We have always sold them at a loss.". I'm not supprised by this because hardware sales just isn't where the money is made on game's consoles, especially in the last 20 years that Xbox has been around. It's all about games, accosories, software and subscriptions. Are you supprised by this?
  6. Honestly, I think it's more likely that Zoey is a laptop in Nigeria. I had to delete a very suspicious link from that very post.
  7. People would still shoot each other, but the politicians would have one less thing they could use as a scapegoat.
  8. Another one of those I've played, but have not got around to finishing. What I played of it was very impressive, more of a horror game than an action one which I think is much more appropriate with the Alien licence

    hi

Welcome to VGR. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I know you'll come to enjoy this pit of the mad and the dammed.
  10. Great stories is an easy way to bring me back to a game. I've played through games like Final Fantasy X, Horizon Zero Dawn and TLOU more time than I needed to becasue I love the stories.
  11. Just played through a mod called The Inheritance on Fallout NV. It's a fully voice acted new quest line, and it was brilliant. Anyone who has NV on PC should check it out. Find it here on Nexus Mods.
  12. Devil May Cry 2 was complete and utter pish and a truly abhorrent mockery of the first game, that simple is one of the very best video games ever made. Other than that mishap, it's a strong series, although Ninja Theory's DMC had an image problem and made Dante look like a complete douche.
  13. To be honest, I'd never actually heard of Axiom Verge, but it looks like a sweet game and a must play for Metroidvania fans. According to my research, it was developed by just one man, Thomas Happ. Took him five years of his spare time to finish it. If it's the same situation with Axiom Verge 2, it's just gonna take as long as it takes I'm afraid. Still, thanks for mentioning this game, I might have to try it myself at some point.
  14. I apricate that more than you know. Thank you. However, I'm not in a position to pin threads just because I like them, especially when it comes to threads I started. If @DC wants to pin it, that is his choice, and he'll do so for the right reasons. In the meantime, please address the topic at hand.
  15. There's no reason to go that far into my choice of case, I just picked the first well known court case that came to mind to set up the joke. A joke got. So, to take the topic seriously, I can't actually get invested in a contest of "which ass hole wins", so i make jokes instead. I do what I do. please send letters of complaint to shagger@EXTREMELY_HOTmail.fuckcares.
  16. All I care to say is that there will be more lawyers in this case from both sides then there was people in total in court over the O.J Simpson murder trial, and that's the level of petty this is.
  17. Selling accounts is something different. That's not selling games, that's selling accounts and it is not something I'd recommend anyone do. As a Seller. It bars you from using the same details for any future accounts on that platform. You will need to give the buyer access to your e-mail, so that email account is also gone, so rather inconvenient if you use that e-mail for anything besides that game store account. it can also be dangerous as the person buying the account can use it for, let's say, "other purposes" than playing the games in your library. They could use the account to front money laundering or sell, let's say, "controversial" digital goods, all of which could get traced back to YOU in the end. They could possibly access you phone number, social media accounts and even bank details held on that account if you're not careful. As a Buyer You can't be sure how those games on that account were obtained. They could have been bought with stolen credit card information (fraud), the login info could be wrong or they could change it after you bought it, especially if they have things like 2-step verification enabled or even just use fake screenshots to con people into thinking they're buying an account that doesn't actually exist. Selling accounts is not illegal as far as I know, an even if it were it would be impossible to enforce, but it's not safe and It's certainly not a comparable substitute for selling used games on PC. I would beg anyone considering it not to do it.
  18. As bad as this is, and it is bad, it's the lesser of two evils. Game companies selling in-game items on cross play titles was why Sony were so reluctant to allow cross play in the first place as the complaint behind the game wold have to use their own system and not PSN to make that work (thus, working around Son's cut). So for Sony to say, "OK, you can have cross play, but we want a cut of those in-game item sales." is not suppressing. Don't get me wrong, it's still atrocious when other companies appear to work fine with game companies when they host cross play, but Sony had to be all Sony about it.
  19. You can only sell keys if they haven't been used, so it's not the same as selling and buying used games they way you can with physical media. in answer to @StaceyPowers question, it dose a bit, but any system that would allow the sale of used game keys would just be too easy to exploit and no game publisher/developer would want to sell their games on it. Sadly, that limitation when it comes to digital games is something that must continue to exist. @Patrik You can't sell used games on digital platforms. You just can't.
  20. Same here. I usually end up selling them. I almost never use any kind of one shot item or temporary combat ability in any game because they're bad things to rely on. If you can't, for example, defeat a certain enemy without having a load of such items/abilities on hand it's probably not wise to take that enemy on at all. Not to mention the first time you encounter said situation the odds are you won't have all those things you need on hand anyway.
  21. Night mode is something designed specifically to put less strain on the eyes and be more relaxing to look at, so by it's very nature it's in conflict with what one usually needs a display to do while gaming. Gaming screens need to be sharp and bright to draw focus and keep you alert. My better half uses night mode to read in bed and that makes sense, but to game, not so much.
  22. Older consoles of this make are bound to have these issues. Other than a deep cleaning of the fans and heat sinks there isn't much else that can be done. My PS3 was literally screeming in pain for weeks before finally dying while I was playing Beyond Two Souls a few years back.
  23. The various reviews and articles that came up with regard to Cyberpunk 2077 were consistent and numerous enough in their criticisms to put me off. If I hadn't been paying attention, I might have bought it. True I was, as some of you might remember, very suspicious about the game as the development dragged on, but all that really meant was I wasn't suppressed when the game came out busted. I still could have just as easily fell for the trap that CDPR were "all for the gamers" saints and bought the game on that good faith. If I had, that would have been the biggest dose of buyers remorse I'd have had since the likes of Destiny and No Man's Sky.
