In what ways do you wish life were more like video games?
StaceyPowers and 2 others reacted to killamch89 for a topic
And it actually works out perfectly and everyone lives happily ever after, I'd rather that. Also, I wish there was a pause button for life just so that I could get time to think about certain things in a situation. Hell, I'd even welcome bullet time.3 points -
Warner Bros: "Celebrate Pride... By Repeatedly Beating Up a Gay Character!"
Shagger and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
Warner Bros. being tone deaf is nothing new. I recall one time, and I apologise for sensationalising it but it's a reflex when talking of WB Games at this point, when they tried to monetise the death of one of their employees. The idea was to immortalise Michael Forgey who had passed away from cancer by adding a half-uruk character that would aid the players in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.... at a cost. The funds were supposed to go to charity but only those in the US (or most US states) would send the money to charity. Those outside of those US areas would be putting money directly into WB's pockets. The family offered a fundraiser which many (myself included) went to donate. It was nice to see donations greater than the DLC was asking for. And after all that the DLC was made free in the end. Like that disaster I could believe this is more incompetence than malice, but that doesn't really absolve them of anything. Malice takes intelligence, for one thing.2 points -

I sometimes like to joke about this in real life: If only life were like a video game, where a ragtag group of heroes could go on an adventure, infiltrate North Korea, overthrow the leadership there and liberate the people, bringing about peace and prosperity.2 points -
Do corporations actually care?
StaceyPowers reacted to m76 for a topic
There has been a feint going on that US and some other corporations are standing up for human rights. If they really cared they wouldn't just pretend on their US domestic branches, but declare support worldwide, especially where basic human rights are not granted to everyone. But that would actually hurt their business. So what do they do? They pretend to care where human rights are already won for everyone. If they really cared about discrimination they'd stand for women's rights in Saudi Arabia, or Gay rights in Iran, etc. If there is one thing I hate most in this world it is hypocrisy.1 point -
Illogical NPC actions that demand OOC responses
Reality vs Adventure reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
In Skyrim, if you kill soldiers escorting a prisoner and let the prisoner go, he will often report your crime to the hold, and then you get fined. I find this action really illogical, but so much so I don’t feel that bad about killing the prisoner/witness. I feel like the entire episode is just an arifact of bad development. What are some similar examples of such things from other games?1 point -
Illogical NPC actions that demand OOC responses
Heatman reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
In RDR2, people can attack you for no reason whatsoever, or just take off running screaming, and you are the one that ends up with a god damn warrant. Also there have been times I watched other guys fight, and I was the one the cops fucking came after. I WASN'T EVEN INVOLVED IN IT. Another time, I've talked about this before, and NPC went flying all the way down the main street of Valentine, level with the rooftops, and I got a murder charge. He came from out of screen where I couldn't even see him. The camera wasn't facing where he came from. You blink, you have a $500 bounty.1 point -
Some years ago I might have believed that might be the case, but not now. These day's it's better in terms of marketing strategy to be pro LGBTQ+ (or at the least look like you are), especially during pride month. It doesn't really make great them great bedfellows with anti LGBTQ+ organisations either since they will still object to the bi character being in the game in the first place! Microsoft have a pride sale going on right now on XBox and PC and are even giving away Tell Me Why, a games heavy on Trans gender themes for free. I'm not saying these companies necessary care about LGBTQ+ rights or the community (the almost certainly don't) but it's better to look you do because if you didn't your the only one that's ignoring the giant rainbow coloured elephant in the room and that's a very bad look. With that in mind I can see what WB were trying to do. Shine a torch on an bisexual character that they have in their game which itself isn't really a bad thing... BUT HOLY SHIT did they not think it through! I don't believe they had any anti LGBTQ+ messages or intentions in mind, I was just a very stupid idea that they didn't properly think out.1 point

When you are that out of touch with whoever your target audience is, that is really bad business and they should take a re-evaluation on their marketing department and all who approved it. How can you not have known this will cause negative feedback? Innocent demonization? That happens all too often and repetitively to be considered innocent at this point. Lack of sympathy? Unable to predict consequences? I get that it’s a fighting game, but stay out of it if you feel that victimization is honored by making the victimized a challenge to fight. New ivy gear or something would have been appropriate, or play Ivy with super strength and abilities. These mistakes are a pattern that needs to be shattered. A pattern with no end because it is an illness. It’s a mental illness to not be able to sympathize. It’s degradation of humanity to not know if something this obvious would be offensive. And I do believe they tried to balance advocate and business, and sorely fucked it up. Lack of common sense? Maybe. Things I have seen in this pattern of unsympathetic behavior from those at the top, borders on negligence. And deniers will of course say it’s just a video game. And that pattern lives on in society till it all crumbles into tyranny. And when we go back to witches getting burned at the stake, and slobbering fools throwing bread, then the realization sets in; that is who these deniers are.1 point

Hamburger or Taco?
killamch89 reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
I’d definitely go with tacos because there are so many different ingredients and seasoning to put in there. @The Blackangel you can get the hamburger and fold it in home made tortillas...lol. Man, I don’t care if it’s burger, fajita meat, or beans; I will load them tacos with cheese, tomato, sour cream, salsa, cilantro, lettuce, onion; avocado? Sure. I’ll eat 20 tacos a day if I could. Damn I’m hungry.1 point -
Warner Bros: "Celebrate Pride... By Repeatedly Beating Up a Gay Character!"
Shagger reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
As someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, this doesn't surprise me. I think it was intentional, not a fuckup. I seriously believe that they did it to appeal to the republiKKKlans and other anti-LGBTQ+ organizations. They have a greater reach and more chance to fatten their wallets that way. THey probably also wanted to give us as much of a slap in the face as they could.1 point -
Jogging or Hiking?
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
Hiking. And the greatest distance would be about 60 miles out and 70 miles back. So about 110 miles total. I decided to take a different route back that was roughly 10 miles longer.1 point -
Book or eBook?
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I prefer a real book. There's just something about eBooks that doesn't feel right or authentic. Like it's a simulated experience that I didn't actually have. A Total Recall kind of thing where the memory is implanted, but it never actually happened.1 point -
Coffee or Tea?
Knight Plug reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I love a good hot cup of black coffee. But I also love my iced tea. I set out a jug of water with 4 or 5 bags of tea in it, leave it in the sun for a day, and I have a full jug of tea in the evening. Sun tea is the best. But a nice hot coffee is right up there next to it. I honestly can't pick one over the other.1 point -

Even better would be having a reset button and save points so that we could go back and redo things differently. Or even redo things the same way just to experience it again and again.1 point -

Your thoughts on ads in game
killamch89 reacted to Shagger for a topic
Fuck them. They're nothing but a deliberate annoyance. OK, they're not nearly as predatory or harmful as lootboxes and microtransactions in general, but they are used as a tool to drive people to microtransactions, so they are a cog in that machine. That, however, applies to FTP games. If the game is not FTP, especially a premium AAA title, then there is no excuse whatsoever. I hate Sky TV for having adds in there programs when you have to buy the service to begin with, so fuck any game that does the same thing. Netflix doesn't do this shit nor does Amazon Prime Video. Spotify and YouTube remove ads when you pay permium, same story with game streaming services live Xbox Game Pass and PS Now. For FTP, I can tolerate it, even though it's still used as a tool to draw people into spending, and that's disgusting. However, I double dare anyone to try and defend this practice on Pay-to-Play games or game you play through a subscription.1 point -

Anyone know how to prevent weird movement glitches with Serana in Skyrim?
StaceyPowers reacted to Shagger for a topic
This is a known bug with NPC followers who battle with magic. There are number of mods that fix and generally improve follower AI as well as console commands that can break the character out of "fighting stance", but because you're on PS3, that's not really an option. The only things I can really suggest is moving in an out of that zone to reset the follower AI, go to a previous save or attack her yourself until she's knocked out to force the AI to stop combat.1 point -
How do you rally when you’re about to die in a tough fight?
StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 for a topic
I just don't care about dying anymore and I just fight with everything I got and I start trying some pretty risky maneuvers that either win me the fight or make me fail horribly. Surprisingly, most of the time it tends to work.1 point -
In what ways do you wish life were more like video games?
Reality vs Adventure reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
In a word, everything. In life you need to sleep, eat, drink, piss, shit, run the daily risk if getting sick or injured, worry about money, face society and law in manners that actually have consequences, wait in real time, there's no fast travel, no extra lives, no superpowers, no saves, no reset, no time travel, no mods, no console commands, no cheats and even if play by all the rules and play it with 100% effort it ultimately results in death no matter what. Video games are great, and life sucks.1 point -
Do you lose fights because you press the wrong button?
StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 for a topic
What I don't like is when you press the wrong buttons due to lag on online sessions and it screws you over. It really gets underneath my skin...1 point
