Gaming for anxiety

I tried like a dozen different things to treat my anxiety, almost none of which helped, and then I got a PS3. Gaming every night before bed has done more to help me sleep than anything else I've ever tried, and does wonders to stabilize my mood. Anyone else have the same experience?

Kind of the opposite for me as gaming kind of pumps me up a bit, but gaming has different effects for everyone.

I definitely find a few games super relaxing and meditative: PixelJunk Monsters (particularly the 2 player co-op), Golf games and a few indie titles like Journey, Flower and Flow.

You really should get a ps4 if you don't have one already. Some very soothing games are AC Odyssey, Valhalla, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Witcher 3. Those are my go to for a beautiful world that calms me. Those games will probably last me forever.

There are also soothing games like No man's sky that'll help to easy your anxiety. Alternatively, you can also use some deep breathing and meditation techniques to calm you down.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, but the GT6 Rome races calm me, so long as I have a strong enough car to not have to race real hard.

Games like fishing life or the hobby type of games niche, they tend to reduce anxiety but other games can be bad for the blood pressure.

I don't think it's too unusual. That's a big part of why I consider the switch to play most gaming platform to play games on PC while I had the PS2 back in the day, despite having a far superior PC with a large library of some of it's best games, still unplayed. Since it's easy to pick up and play or set back down, I'm more likely to actually play games on it.

But yeah, for me it's again opposite and get right into the madness.

Ascendance on Switch is a great game for anxiety. It's just soothing and the background music is mind relaxing beyond most anything. I also think RDR2 is a good one. You don't have to do anything storyline relatied. You can just jump on your horse and go for a ride. You can stop by any lake or river and go fishing. You can go around picking random plants. You can study the wildlife. You can go to town and take in a show. You can help out strangers in stranger missions. Or you can hang around camp and interact with everyone there.

There's really no limit except for your imagination in RDR2.

The main reason why I get into playing games is for relaxation purposes, so it definitely helps me to calm down, ease off pressure and make me feel better as well happier.
