  1. After a video game console has been out for a number of years, price changes are not out of the ordinary, but it's usually the price going down, but now Sony has decided to increase the price of the PS5 in pretty much every region except the USA by equivalent of around $40-$50 US. More from PlayStation Blog. Here's a breakdown of the new prices; Credit to IGN, who first made made me aware of this via this video from Gamescom. They also break down the price increases in more detail, so it's worth a watch. There's only one thing I wanna say, Sony; I don't care about thier excuses revolving around the state of the world economy or inflation, this is same Sony that once sold the PS3 at a $300 loss per unit because they understood how important it was to get the console into peoples homes. The rules have not changed, so why would Sony make a decision that will decrease sales of the console (because it will)? It's not like they ever made much money of the hardware sales of the console itself anyway. More importantly, how can Sony do this to people, especially with this console? A console that has been scarce for buyers to get a hold of and has been scalped to hell? It's almost as if of Sony are punishing thier fans for not being able to buy one yet, like thier fans have done something wrong and it's thier fault. This move is rancid on Sony's part and I'm furious, and I know I won't be alone in this. What makes this more insulting for me is that I had a time slot booked for me by PlayStation to have a guarantee to be able to buy a PS5 yesterday. I didn't do it because money is not in abundance right now, but it feels like a slap in the face. It's like, "Oh, you're not buying on now? Well then fuck you! Now you'll have to pay more when you do want one!". No Sony. Fuck you, and you alone. I hope thier is un uproar and you are forced to reverse this decision.

  2. Hiya Guys ^.^, It's been an awesome time here on VGR so far and want to say thank you for being kind ,welcoming as well all the great content and conversations. So long story short I've been making Empire Of Sight for almost a year now, I started with just a concept and zero experience in terms of creating , layering, or in general making a game by hand. I've been involved in gaming since I was young and even ran a few businesses revolving around the gaming industry. I started this project December 2021 as a game for a community that I was apart of and happened to have a friend I had met who was a fullstack developer as well really passionate about wanting to create something he could own a part of. We both started with almost zero skills in regards to development but we've kept running and have finally gotten to a point where we are about to release our "Prototype" of the game. We've already run the beta stages and decided to make the prototype much easier to level/higher damage than the Main Game we will launch in November but its still a fun little way to get to know the games "concept" as well a way to get some cool items in "NFT" form that you'll be able to use in the Main Game. I played a few P2E games last year and seen that they were all pretty rough in the terms of Web3 as well Web2 designs.. They all missed the mark by either being "just print money" or without any real "game" at its core so I started my grind in the hopes of producing a fun game for a lot of my friends and close community members who wanted to be able to own their assets / transfer them to future games in the blockchain form as well sell to others if anyone would want them of course 😄 Empire Of Sight is not a "mint to earn game" it's a monthly subscription based MMORPG with no promises of earned income or fancy pie charts, it's just my take on what I see Web3 being while using Web2 or as Id like to say the games we grew up on no matter what console it was. I'm not sure what to expect long term with the games I'm making but I really enjoy it and see a potential in the future for games like this even if they aren't going to have 30million players. I would be happy to even get 500 people online with a community of people who like to larp around and kill monsters, craft, use alchemy, cook and mine XD The game itself is a 2D MMORPG built around ERC-1155 Technology, the prototype will be around 5-10% of the content and map size of the main game. The main game will have thousands of hours of gameplay and tons of updates in the future. Empire Of Sight also has the ability to create, join a guild or party. You will have a friends list , chat box in game, the ability to trade, buy and sell your items with NPCs as well players. I plan to use the same style of combat system as OldSchool Runescape as well a blend of Path of Exiles/Wow in the terms of way you play the game. Right now the level player cap will be 100 but the highest monster level in the main game will only be 83 for now as I want to leave room for expansions. I'll just leave a trailer here for now and the website link, you can't currently buy membership as we are finishing up some things but you can look at the website even though I'll be changing some content on it as the goals have changed in a few ways so the content wont be 100% accurate at the moment. Feel free to chat about it as I would love feedback, ideas, and some criticism from you guys ❤️ It was my first time ever editing a video so be gentle on me XDDD. I'll be making another one closer to Sep 3rd when we release the prototype live for people to play! Here's the trailer link: Website : https://www.empireofsight.com/ I plan to edit this thread as the game develops / changes are made and I may even remove some of the text above depending on how everything goes. Thanks again guys for making me feel comfortable here on VGR ^.^ EOS

  4. It's their sound/audio that keeps getting me cracked up very hard with laughter. With just a simple look at their appearance and design, you would start laughing immediately 😂.

  5. i'm on peaceful mode in the creative part too. once i kinda understand things better i might go play in survival mode. i've been watching streamers play it. i'm looking at tutorial videos. this game might fair better if it were a touch more user friendly instead of user mysterious.

  7. The thing about this is that it actually makes far less sense for Valve to do this sort of thing because the Steam Deck, like any Gaming PC, does not guarantee a revenue stream for them, not like a console does for Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo. It is quite possible for someone to buy a Steam Deck, install windows on it then only ever buy games from EGS or GOG, for example. The vast majority of people won't do that and will use Steam at least along with other services, but the point is Valve get it, Sony used to get it, but then don't get it now? Agreed. If Sony had said "Sorry that we have to increase the price of the PS5, but we'll throw in a few months of PS+ Premium for each new console sold after the new prices kick in." or perhaps a free game, then I would be a little more forgiving. But no, it's "We're jacking up the price, please form an orderly queue to suck it.".

  8. When Microsoft rack up all gaming studios, it becomes less competitive and less exclusive, since it is centred to one gaming company. But such doesn't bother me, provided that I am playing my favourite games on PS, exclusive can be there or not.

  9. I haven't been able to lay my hands on a PS 5 yet and now the price increase, I hope this decision is talked down on as much as possible so it would be reversed.

  10. Video game streaming is seeing a drop maybe because the contents streamers put out there are now just full banter and too much talking without much to give you a better incite into what the player is doing on the screen. I have a YouTube channel but not for streaming video games related contents, I felt I wasn't much of a gamer that people would want to watch play videogames.

  12. RE got lots of editions, you can choose from 1-8 depending the one that pokes your interest. I love RE- 2, RE-4 and RE-7. I am yet to play the newest edition, RE-8, since my attention shifted to other action adventure games.

  13. That's why I didn't encourage home schooling for my nephew , he was already deep into video games and keeping him at home to school would only make him further addicted, so it is best he goes to school with other kids so he can make friends too.

  14. i'm not a parent but i think every child deserves to be a kid and play outside with friends before they become video game junkies. problem is there aren't many if any other kids outside playing.

I think year of the dragon was the only one I remembered by name xD, I know warlock had posted his youtube videos and I had played those as well but it being so long ago my poor brain deleted all the information XDDD

  17. I still have problems with presentation of this game. The use of these realistic looking, life like but untimely boring environments was cumbersome enough, but they are throwing some environments that looks like the classic sonic games into the mix as well just make this worse. This is a game has no visual identity of own. I don't know if this is because of the recent live action Sonic movies that they decided this was a good idea, and whilst that helps me understand the choice they made, it doesn't make it good choice. The gameplay itself does little to excite me either, it's nothing new nor interesting.

    Alone in the Dark

It really sucks when some people can't respect other people's opinions even if they don't agree with it. It's not a must to start fighting over another person's opinion simply because they have something different that doesn't support your own. Even with the apology later, it still won't still make you feel any better.

  20. Well, that's very unfortunate and equally understandable too. This is because there's every possibility that a game which impresses another gamer wouldn't scratch it for another person. It's how powerful our individual differences and perception works.

    Playstation is being sued

I don’t understand how they claim this is ripping off consumers. Wouldn’t that mean that games would be more expensive digitally than they would be physically? If anything the 30% take would be a rip off to publishers. Also they claim Sony has a monopoly on digital PlayStation games because the PlayStation store is the only place to buy them. That’s like saying the Pokemon company has a monopoly on Pikachu.

  22. Eh, KOTOR really isn't that massive or complex. The story and the amount of dialogue were big for the time, but they aren't that big now. The maps aren't that big, the combat system isn't that complex, the number of unique enemies, items, and weapons is pretty small compared to most modern RPGs. I hope they add and modernize a lot of things, but on its face a remake of KOTOR isn't really that daunting of a task.

  24. Thankfully if I ever want to leave I can I just feel I've invested way too much money and time here over the last few years to run before its impossible to stay for mental health xD. Would love for all the nonsense to end but there's some understanding that the population has almost zero resistance at this point because of the measures taken over the last 3 years... Still I would love for a magical "we are done with zero covid the "war on the virus is won!" because the global economy needs that message more than anything right now.. The markets have spanked me this year haha. One thing cool thing is to watch a countries ability to randomly lock down a city of 25million people in 4 hours completely. That was an insane sight to behold lol. EOS

  25. Favourite: Obisidian Entertainment. I'd like to say Insomniac but due to sexual misconduct allegations I'd feel uneasy choosing them. Obsidian Entertainment at least decided to remove Chris Avellone for his many allegations (among other disagreements with upper management). They don't make technically competent games, but they at least make games I enjoy. Least Favourite: Blizzard Entertainment. The few decent people there aren't able to execute their passion and interest in creating good video games, and the rest are either raking cash in from cynical practices, treating their fellows inappropriately, or both. It's absolutely worse under Activision's reign, who should be held accountable, but I can't imagine Blizzard being the jewel of the industry for long if they weren't acquired. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and all that. Can you elaborate on your choices, @NightmareFarm? I'm only familiar with Naughty Dog, and I think they make quite good games even if they're not my cup of tea.

    Spyro the Dragon

What's the worst release amongst the Spyro games that you have played so far? My pick would be between Spyro : A Hero's Tail and Spyro : Attack of the Rhynocs.

  27. I'm rather new, actually just an infant here on VGR but I would like to nominate @DC. The reason why : Was gentle when I posted something that was against the rules, took the time to chat me and introduced me to a ton of forum content ^>^ Thanks again, EOS

  30. The Last Game Played thread, this thread's fine. Also, congrats on 6667 posts! I know the game, and I think I know the puzzle too (they don't get much easier going forward). I enjoyed what of it I'd played, but the twists and turns that story took did nothing for me. It requires a far more clever player than me to appreciate it!

  32. First off, the game that @DC gave away (Like I'm sure all of the games he has given away as part of the points system) was in the form of a digital code and, as part of the system, you have to provide proof you have redeemed said code in the "Post here when you get your reward" thread. So no, you can't just sell them off. The system wouldn't exist in the form it does if @DC wanted you to do anything with these games other than play them. Second, @Yaramaki didn't win that game by "bidding more". This wasn't like the Auction No. 17- $15 Amazon Gift Card currently going on. There was a set price for the code in points, first come, first served. Check that thread for Aquadine on Nintendo Switch and you'll see the difference. Lastly, and to expand on what @Yaramaki said, even if the system in place was meant for you to sell the codes you bid for, that would be unethical. Not only is it dishonest, but it also denies one of your fellow forum members the chance to grab a game that they actually wanted. Check out this thread for Tyrant's Blessing for Steam that I recently partook in. Given that I had already got another game called Hard West 2 through bid for rewards that was very similar, I was very reluctant to go for it and would only take it if nobody else was interested: As you can see, in the end @DC felt nobody else was interested, so I got the code, but that's not the point. The point is that it's expected for people to bid for these rewards because they want them, any other motive is not appropriate. I actually held of commenting on that thread for days to give somebody else the chance to claim that game, the thought of claiming the code to then sell it never even crossed my mind. The fact you think that it's OK to claim a reward then just sell it off is, quite frankly, alarming and I'm very concerned. Just in case it is not clear, claiming an award to then only sell it off or exchange it for credit to buy something else in NOT what the Bid for Rewards section is for, so don't even think about it.

  33. I've never watched a single one of his videos ever, and I never watch any "youtubers" video's because I genuinely just don't care about their opinion unless they are an expert in a field I study or whatever. The "popularity" among "youtubers" kind of goofing off on video very often comes down to a random dude basically being an expert at goofing off all day on the internet in front of a younger audience. I support their right to goof around, etcetera, but I don't think alot of these people are well trained in areas that I care about. By context there are elite video game players who occasionally, or very often, post some youtube stuff, and I still don't even watch that but used to and may occassionally. Only actual channel that I've been watching recently is Karl Jobst, and he's kind of an expert at exposing some very, very sneaky frauds in the video game communities at some of the highest levels on earth.
