  1. Hey, everyone! I have some big announcements to make today. First of all, we just hit another impressive milestone—15,000 members! I want to give a shout out to all of you who have become a part of the VGR family, especially our frequent contributors. Together, you have made this one of the friendliest and most engaging forums around. Next, I want to welcome @The Blackangel as our second moderator (and thanks again, @Techno, for recommending we get one)! The Blackangel has been with us for more than three years now. During all of that time, I can’t even remember a week where she wasn’t active and involved. We can always count on The Blackangel for detailed, insightful replies to members’ threads—plus she is one of our classic gaming experts. Moreover, her passion for this forum shines through in everything she does, and I know she is going to bring that enthusiasm to her work as a moderator every day. Congratulations, The Blackangel! The Blackangel joins @Shagger, who became our first moderator in August 2020. Like The Blackangel, Shagger has specialized in engaging, in-depth discussion. Since becoming a moderator, he has done an incredible job keeping topics organized, quickly defusing potential conflicts, and keeping everything running smoothly for our community. Thank you so much for all of your ongoing hard work, Shagger! I just know you and The Blackangel are going to do amazing things together. Both our 15,000 member milestone and our second moderator are signs of how much VGR forum has grown over the course of 2021. Thank you all again for the role you have played in making this community the welcoming haven for gamers that it is, and for all you will do to make VGR continue to grow and flourish as we head into 2022.

  2. Congratulations @The Blackangel. Under your moderation VGR will soon become a beacon of order. All denizens will be at the mercy of your will. Where all those who acquiesced to you will be permitted to survive and flourish and all those who resist will face dire and unspeakable fates!... ...Well, what I mean is congrats and I'm sure you'll do fine.

  3. Perfect choice, @DC! Congrats, @The Blackangel, you are going to be marvelous. And thanks again @Shagger for everything you do. All three of you are awesome, and have made this the place I feel most welcome and at home online 🙂

  4. No. I just like things to be well organized so I can find it easily when I need to. I've been told that I'm at the point that it looks like an OCD thing, because of how organized shit has to be. If it's not in perfect order, I start getting rather bitchy and can't focus on anything else until the item in question is fixed.

  5. Thanks everyone. I just hope I don't make any major screw ups and do something that's not supposed to be within my scope of privileges as a mod. With the amazing job @Shagger has done over the last year and a half, I know I can go to him anytime I need. Obviously I can also go to @DC too. They have been one hell of a team together, and I'm honored to be able to help them with their duties. But like I said, I just hope I don't make any major screw ups. Fingers crossed. 🤞

  6. I can't say that I'm really surprised by this announcement because it's something that should have been done a long time. Having only @Shaggerdoing it all alone can be too demanding. So adding @The Blackangelto the team is a very good plan. Well done @DC, congratulations to you @The Blackangel and then happy growth for the community.

  7. They are literally saying you guys should go and f**k yourself waiting for the next DLC. They don't give a rats ass what's important or not.

  8. I can't say I'm totally shocked. It's a popular game, but more importantly it's something that's played with creativity. Minecraft is almost only limited by the imagination, so talented, creative people could really make Minecraft content work.

  9. If I'm paying that kind of money for a poster, it better be printed on the back of a first draft of the frickin Constitution.

  11. These are my current specs, at least from what I can find: my graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER yeah, I heard older cards can handle a lot, just gotta make sure the PC is in good working order. I was thinking about upgrading my old PC to put a graphics card, but idk how well it would have done. So instead I upgraded to a better PC. 🙂

  12. I don't know. Some of the games would not be a good idea to remake for VR. Some of them, while they would be a wild ride, just couldn't make it. Things like Marble Madness would never be able to be a VR game. Others are just impractical. Considering that the vast majority of classic games are side scrollers, it would be more expensive than it's really worth to try to give them the VR treatment. Try SMB3. How exactly are you going to use that raccoon tail to fly in VR? I highly doubt you're going to go outside and run across your yard.

  13. I'm not sure this one can be upgraded. It still uses a separate Video card and separate modem card from the motherboard. So I doubt that it could be upgraded anymore. It's just way too old. It's older than some of the members here.

  14. Actually, I haven't. I've never seen any of them. Muscle guys with muscle cars just isn't my thing when it comes to movies. Hell muscle guys aren't my thing at all in any capacity.

  15. Yeah, 7 months is a long time to wait for the DLC but it's better to wait and have it best than have it rushed and get trash.

  17. Congratulations @The Blackangel! That is cool indeed. Both you and @Shagger would make a great moderating team. We just got over a hundred new members cause I know I checked a couple days ago. So for those feeling the water, jump on in!

  18. I think Fall 2022 is a good timeframe for 20,000 members. I also think by then the forum will have over 200,000 posts, based on how we are currently growing. Very exciting!

  19. My best bet would be in Summer 2022 to Early Fall 2022 for that, but by 2023 we should have reached it.

  22. I don't personally enjoy online gaming, so going pro and having to play alongside others doesn't appeal to me personally. As mentioned by @Empire being able to play an instrument shouldn't equate to requirement of a professional career. For example I play an aulos. There's little call for that unless I find a Celtic band that would want it. I'm also trying to learn guitar. I would like to play relaxing acoustic, and be able to shred 80's style. But I don't see myself ever having any desire of going pro.

  23. Like you say, the movement of the character model looks a bit weird and unnatural. Aesthetically at least, the game does feel very much inspired by Silent Hill. Hopefully it can receive that bit of extra development time it needs to take it from being quite an average survival horror game, to a great one.

  24. Night mode is something designed specifically to put less strain on the eyes and be more relaxing to look at, so by it's very nature it's in conflict with what one usually needs a display to do while gaming. Gaming screens need to be sharp and bright to draw focus and keep you alert. My better half uses night mode to read in bed and that makes sense, but to game, not so much.
