  1. When i first came here it was to talk about videogames, one thing that was immediately clear to me this is the messageboard i have been looking for years, fellow posters welcomed me when i first joined up like i have been here for years. Everybody is so open and genuine there is no hate and jealousy towards eachother wheter or not somebody has a different oppinion it doesen't end up in a flame war. I may consider myself more video game collector then gamer these days but being part of vgr has worked miracles like getting stoked again on current gen gaming and actually being encouraged to play games that are way out of my zone. I also want to thank @DC, @Shagger and @The Blackangel for their faith and trusting me with this task, i'll try my utmost best to be the best mod i possible can, so if there is ever anything you possibly think i could help out with wheter it's board related or not, do not hestitate to send me a pm. Also thanks to all of you guys the entire community for being the way you are, we may not always agree with eachother but let's keep doing what we do best and make vgr the best place it possible can be. Damn i almost sound like a politician.

  2. I want to let everyone know that Bid for Rewards is officially back. How it works is that you receive 2 Points for each post reply and 5 Points for each new thread. You can then use your Points to participate in auctions to "Bid for Rewards" for gift cards, cash, video games, and video game consoles. I also want to take time to introduce @Yaramaki as VGR's third moderator. He will be joining @The Blackangel and @Shagger. @Yaramaki has contributed thoughtful and insightful postings since first joining VGR and we're excited to welcome him to the team. Congratulations and we look forward to your continued contributions to VGR.

  3. Fair weather friends are useless. They'll never have your back, they'll talk shit when you're not around, and they will even rob you. I know all that from experience. So if they're fake, give them the boot. If they're down to roll with you, keep them around. You need someone who's going to have your back, not someone who's looking for the right place to stick a knife.

  5. I'd like to remind everyone, and by everyone I mean @Kane99 and @Heatman, that this thread is meant for discussion on levelling speech mechanics in video games. The last post from each of you made don't mention this at all and instead are all about Fallout 76. @Heatman, I'm particularly concerned about what you're trying to do here I've seen this from you before and I think old habits are starting to creep back. @Kane99 may have started it, but it's similar attempts you have made to goad people into more off-topic posts that put have put threads completely off the rails in the past. It has got so bad that threads end up only existing as a private chat room for whatever off-topic conversation you feel like having to harvest posts. Just because somebody goes a little off topic, it is not an invite for you to have an entirely different conversion in that same thread. If you want to discuss Fallout 76 with @Kane99 or anyone else, use PM's or got to/start a Fallout 76 thread. This really isn't hard. One of these days, I'm going to get board of warning you.

  6. I too extend my congratulations to Yaramaki. I hadn't guessed them for moderator material, but the forum needs all the moderation it can get. They're a breath of fresh air on these forums, I hope this position guarantees their continued insightful posting.

  7. What is the most unforgettable thing you've seen unfold live on television? For me, and I imagine many others, it's the 9/11 plane hijackings and plane crashes. I also saw Malice at The Palace live on TV.

    New here...

Hi. I'm 56 yrs old and I enjoy gaming. It's pretty much all I do now when I'm not working. My top two favorite games are Fortnite and Animal Crossing New Horizons. I also play Kirby and the Forgotten Lands and I have several Lego games. I only have the Nintendo Switch so that's the only games I can play. It's just something to pass the time.

  9. What a boring pattern of football. I never fell in love with Chelsea FC's football style, so dull and uninspiring. Winning the UEFA champions league that year was a complete miracle for the team, they didn't expect such luck, because they can't tell me it came from good football, because their opponents outplayed them in every aspects. Same happened as they clinched their second UEFA champions league, many considered them as clear underdog heading to the final against City.

  10. I think it would stop, it's just that protests usually run out of steam and ultimately people buy the products they're protesting against anyway. See this tired old chestnut. I won't lie, I've long given up on the idea of protesting and boycotting because I can neither get people to rally under the same banner nor find someone else's banner to rally under. Reviewbombing has become the only means of slacktivism that seems to affect change, or more recently taking to Twitter whenever someone in the industry brings up NFTs (so far, so good: Team17 and Troy Baker have had their projects laughed into oblivion). There have been successful backlashes against DLC practice such as the infamous Horse Armour debacle, which led to The Shivering Isles and other astounding DLC being made for Oblivion and future games. It's just a shame that it wasn't enough in terms of industry-wide effect, and it singlehandedly brought down whatever optimism there was for DLC going forward. As said earlier this probably isn't something game development studios want to do. Publishers such as Electronic Artsholes, SEGA, 2K et al get away with telling their studios to carve up the content because people decided they'd pay for it rather than take a stand. Just about the only DLC being carved up I stand against these days is Total War's added gore effects, but those are sold in the justification of bringing down the age rating of the base game (even then, that's still thin ice). See also House Party's adult content once being free, no longer as it's out of Early Access. At least House Party is self-published, so its developers will see all of the money once Steam takes its cut. You've said yourself why it makes sense: because they can rip people off without any effectual backlash. The lines between carving up a game and 'supporting' it however are blurring, with Paradox and Slitherine being publishers who make great platforms which are built up with quality DLC. The power to do something about this exists and I firmly believe it to be as plain as day, but when it's time to exercise it that's easier said than done. Furthermore, the window of time to act upon that power is swiftly closing as people get older, and newer gamers enter the industry not knowing (or caring) about a time when games were almost entirely feature complete sans updates, patches, and additional content.

  11. This is the first time I ever heard of "vabbing" and all I can say is that the women doing it are the ones we have to thank for all the fish jokes. As for ones that are stupid to me, planking is one of the dumbest. I took a couple planking images on my couch and bed, added the caption "Do you still not see this as pointless?" and posted them online. Car surfing is another idiotic one. As you have said, natural selection at its best. I don't know how widespread it is, but there are two others that I have come across, Both involving snakes. 1) Someone puts a ball python around their neck and tries to get it to wrap around them and then pull it off before they pass out. 2) Picking up a poisonous snake by the tail and lifting it up to look it in the eyes. You have to be a special kind of stupid to do either one, but unfortunately there is no shortage of people in that category.

  12. I know but I'm not worried about it - I hardly even depend on anyone not even my closest friends and it's not because they aren't reliable. It's just my nature to try handle things myself rather than go running for help all the time because it's not all the time people will be around to assist you.

  13. This act of them wouldn't stop anytime, even if gamers do wide protest, video game studios will always do whatever pleases to them. It doesn't make sense to leave games half - done and keep ripping customers off through DLCs/patches.

  15. Welcome to the team @Yaramaki. Even though you've only been here a few months, I know you're going to be an asset to the board. You already were as a member, but now you're going to be one of the ones trying to keep @DC and @Shagger in line. 😉

  16. I’m speaking on this as an outsider, but there have been several instances where these terms were always offensive to the original demographic, but at the time they were considered buzzkills (or worse) for bringing it up, and subsequently got blown off. It just took time for someone to come into a position of power to say something about it. 10+ years ago for me, it was totally acceptable to call people variations of the word fag, and anything lame was called gay. People complained about it back then, but they were few and far between, and if they did, they were blown off, killing our fun.

  17. You say that, but it's happened before. When the original Dungeon Keeper first launched, it was really buggy, especially the AI. About a year later, they came out with Dungeon Keeper Gold that included the Deeper Dungeons Expansion, but it was also heavily patched and fixed a lot of the game's issues, but if you wanted those fixes you had to buy this new version. If you only had the original, tough luck. And guess who published it. Seriously, whoever you are reading this, take just one guess and I bet that's all you'll need... I know, what a shock. OK, this was before the days of internet patches, so it's unlikely even EA would try to pull this kind of bullshit again if they wanted too, but I'm sure they could have found a way for people to get an updated version of the original without buying the Deeper Dungeons. This was a huge dick move even by thier standards.

  18. Lukaku never got a fair chance at chelsea in his first spell at chelsea and expectations were way too high when he came back also at man utd he was also under appreciated like who in the right mind is going to pick rashford over lukaku oh wait solskjar did and he has as much knowledge of football then my parents which is exactly none. Yeah i wouldn't be surprised Lukaku bangs in 30+ goals for inter milan next season, dude is out for bloodlust and will want to prove tuchel wrong they dumped him again. i never understood why you would want to play for chelsea anyway yeah sure money makes up a lot but especially as a youngster why would you want to sign for chelsea since the chances you're going to make it to the first team are next to none, if you've got a long contract be prepared to live inside a suitcase because it's going to loan after loan. Needless to say they dumped players like De bryne, salah and nathan aké who never even got a fair chance at chelsea maybe it was mourinho his fault but come on at a normal run club that would have never happened. Hell they even dumped Declan Rice when he was 14 years old.

  19. I've completed Ghost of tsushima a couple of years ago, unless you are skipping a lot of side missions (why would you do that because they are great) it toke me around 35 hours to get the platinum trophy! Woulden't know about Gta v it's story i completed the story mode a third time( the ps5/series x version) this time, probably more around 60 hours and i've yet to buy any businesses and do the assinations to manipulate the stock market and i've never been able to buy the golf club in my 2 previous playtrough so this is still on my to do list. Gta v is one those rare games that they could give you extra story missions that would last another 60 hours and it still woulden't get boring.

  20. Let's see what happens, I know Barcelona is in real transformation. They just want to replace those leg legs with fresh and talented players that are eager to bring the club back to its glory days.

  21. I mean Serie A is levels below La Liga, Epl and Bundesliga. Do you notice that most Serie A teams always do poorly in Europe. For instance, last year, AC Milan - the league champions dropped out of Europe after finishing last in their group. Inter Milan in the round of 16 in the Champions League, Napoli in the Europa League and Juventus in the round of 16 against a mediocre Villareal. The only team that did anything in Europe this season was Roma and they won the Conference League (European 3rd tier but still...).

  22. The issue is I already kind of have my own reputation in addition to that so I really can't go most places without people interrupting me all the time. To be honest, it's the fake people that get on my nerves and there are times where I just want to roll incognito.

  23. To my knowledge, most games that have auto saves overwrite the old ones. Usually it occurs after you do something like complete a mission, buys items, etc. I always suggest having some manual saves as backups. But I think some games out there save a backup just in case. Or some do.

  25. Most things to be done has already been added not in one game but a variety of games comes with their own peculiarities. Maybe an open world game made in an ancient African settings like the ancient kingdom of Benin, Mali or the gold coast that you could play as a ruler, a guard , the queen mother, a great African warrior or whatever character and it would involve fighting a lot of battles as well with really ancient weapons and fighting several God's and invaders or even wild beasts that has been causing terror and death Among the people.

  26. joystick sensitivity so bad, I say it's your settings 😉 I always use my Joystick and it's how you have your sensitivity set in game or maybe in the settings of that device. Have your drivers updated and also google online for others sensitivity settings that they have. I would not say it's bad, it's what you got setup.

  30. My attachment to Playstation consoles wouldn't let me switch to Nintendo consoles no matter how good they might look. It's why I had to work with Nintendo Switch as a way to still have a connection to the Nintendo brand.

  31. It's Nintendo. Their handhelds sell because they're fairly priced, have huge libraries of games from first to third party titles, and idk, they're mostly simple handhelds that work as intended. Plus I imagine their handhelds were easy to develop games for, and that brought in a lot of third party devs. Once the DS came out, with that second screen, it pushed Nintendo even further I think. Isn't the DS or DS Lite one of their top selling consoles period? I think it's kinda even with how their consoles sell vs how their handhelds sell. Well aside from the Wii U, and maybe the gamecube and even the N64. If I remember correctly those didn't sell as we expected. The Wii of course succeeded because of its gimmick. If that console was just a console, it wouldn't have sold as well, because the console itself wasn't close to what the 360 and PS3 had hardware wise. But yeah, I honestly don't know. The Switch is selling like crazy, and since it's a hybrid console, it is perfect for them. And it's fairly priced imo and the games look great on it. Now if only they can produce another Switch with better hardware, that'd be interesting to see. Maybe the dock can increase the processing power of the console to play more advanced games. But in handheld mode maybe it takes the graphics down a notch.

  32. Rats, ever since i read @The Blackangel story as why she liked rats so much it moved me, that I started seeing rats completly different instead of vermin/pests what they are usually called. thanks to or blame it on her whatever you want, i now look at what Rats can be good for and there is quite a few positive things, i started by removing all the traps in my garden a few weeks ago and leave them be.

  33. It's simple because the library of games on nintendo handhelds was vastly superior if you compare it their consoles. It's probably even between gba and gamecube imo but if you look at the ds and 3ds library and compare it to the wii and wii u library of games, the handhelds win hands down. To this days the ds and 3ds library have been unmatched (well maybe the switch rivals it now) because there is something for everybody, games for children check, games for hardcore gamers check, plenty of nintendo first party games check. Hell even your grandparents could enjoy the system if they wanted to. Another big reason was probably the pokemon games which i'm sure whenever a new one launched it sold a ton of systems aswell. Consider in the fact you don't need a tv to play it was another huge factor for parents with little kids, their kids could enjoy their games, while parents watched tv. Atleast that's why i think as i'm guessing not every household has multiple tv's in their house/appartement. As pointed out already games and systems were also cheaper so yeah already a few good reasons why nintendo their handhelds did better then their consoles. Sure you could always argue the wii did extremly well but the majority of the people just bought it for wii sports and maybe one or two games if at all and once they were bored with that the system was just catching dust.

    Asymmetrical Gaming

Everyone loves Dead By Daylight and Friday The 13th: The Game which are fun, but Aliens Vs Predator and Left For Dead were the OG asymmetrical video games for me.

  35. Bill Cosby is an OG and was wrongfully accused of sexual misconduct by dishonest women and has been found innocent. If I was him, I'd be filing defamation lawsuits left and right - those women that falsely accused him should be tried and sentenced. On another note, Jim Carrey is a crazy one especially in Ace Ventura Pet detective.
