  2. I do have a argument as to why digital is better. It has actually been a massive help to the indie industry and I'd argue it's what even allowed for the indie scene to actually exist as digital distribution has been easier, cheaper, and less risky for developers to utilize. Meaning that the indie scene itself really is only possible for digital distribution. Mainly because indie developers rarely have the money to print out copies of a game.

  3. Welcome This is the EGS (Epic Games Store) free games update thread. Epic offers PC games for free each week on it's store with no subscription or anything to pay. And, that's about that really. Just sign into your/ sign up for an EGS account on the website above, download the EGS Games Launcher, and you're ready to go. 5. Dunno if there is a secret method to change the UI but if not it would be nice if there were more themes like red, green, yellow, light blue, etc. Or if there was a custom build feature which let you choose two colours for your personal UI.

  6. Humbe Bundle is at it again with a great bundle of games, this time being for the Resident Evil franchise. The bundle includes 11 games in total if you pay the base price of $30. But it gets you: So yeah, not a bad deal at all for $30. If I had the cash to spare at the moment, I'd for sure take advantage of this. You can find this deal below. https://www.humblebundle.com/games/resident-evil-decades-horror Moderator Edit: This bundle is available now and will remain on offer until August 24th.

  7. That is a brilliant point. I don't like labelling the kind of developers you speak of as "indie" for reasons I've spoke of in the past (To summarise, an indie game can come from a one man team of a shed of a huge company employing thousands because "indie" liberally means it's independently published.), but I know what you mean by "indie" developers and digital distribution really has been a godsend for them. Social media has help as well because it's empowered "word of mouth" like never before and gives good games from talented, small indie dev's a real chance to get traction and get noticed. Again, a great point @Techno that I didn't think of.

  8. I can't believe I hadn't thought of this one. It's the primary reason why one of my favourite games of all time Tombi! (AKA Tomba!) didn't sell all that well: it didn't have a distributor. This was a game by Tokuro Fujiwara of Capcom fame, creating his own studio named Whoopee Camp, so this wasn't some two-bit bootleg operation selling PS Value Series games. It wasn't until after traversing the red tape between Sony and other rights holders that it eventually got re-released on Playstation Network, finally receiving the justice it long deserved. Given how over 80% of games are now purchased digitally, it'd be even harder for an indie title to stand out with physical copies. Back in ye olden dayes of 1997 the Platinum/Essentials/Greatest Hits label was released: a game had to have sold 400,000 copies to have been redistributed with this label. Tombi! didn't get a Platinum label. In the present day however Starbound has sold over 1,000,000 copies. Guilty Gear Strive has sold over 1M copies. Spiritfarer sold over 1M copies. The Forest sold over 5.3M copies. I'm sure I needn't go on. Brick and mortar stores are getting shut down left, right and centre, and what few are still around are more multimedia merch stores. Like I love HMV as it is now, but the percentage of physical discs and the return of vinyls is still dwarfed by the number of shirts, plushies and posters you can buy. While this thread does focus on the consumer side of things, it's good to think on how the creators of those games reach us to play them.

    Last Game Played

Oof finally got around and beated The council played through late in the night yesterday, only to begin today with the same thing some puzzles were brutal and for one i had to look up a guide online, others toke me a few hours to figure out, you get plenty of hints here and there, only problem in my case was you have to understand the hints the game throws at you, toke me a while to figure the hints out. I got a pretty decent ending altough couldn't save everybody but all in all well worth the 20+hours i putted into the game eventough the story is sometimes hard to follow early on, but it all falls into place into the last 2 episodes. Had to mop up a few achievements i've missed but with these type of games it's fairly easy since there is a chapter select and you can skip all the dialogue. I'd say a job well done and the perfect way to conlude my 3 week vacation, off to work we go tommorow.

  13. Who remembered U.B Funkeys? It's supposedly seen as the first Toy to Life game that dated all back to 2007 if got that right. Mattel and Radica are the two toy manufacturing companies in collaboration for creating the game.

  14. Correct. Some persons have allowed ego to drive them away from the common truth, and doing what they preached against. Humans are made with ego, but it will be cool we control it, so we wouldn't go contrary from the real truth.

  15. Given nurses in the UK make on average ~ÂŁ34k a year for a significantly more stressful job, requires greater physical activity, and is - let's be honest - significantly more important... no, esports players are not underpaid by any stretch of the imagination. But what can really be done about it, if anything needs to be done about it? A lot of esports money will be generated from sponserships and advertising deals; the amount of teams kitted out in jerseys with Monster logos ironed on is innumerable, so it's got to go somewhere. Viewership and ticket prices will also generate their salary, with people paying to fill up seats at stadiums or with virtual/digital tickets. Merch in games being sold based on the teams playing the game from Overwatch to SplitGate will, again, get them a healthy cut and go towards hiring the venue to play. The only way I could see esports players being underpaid was if they couldn't afford to do their jobs, but if they can't afford to play video games on $75k per annum, what are they doing wrong?

  17. I think COVID-19 decrease made it that way. Lots of people who stayed indoors have gone back to their respective working place, and wouldn't have that chance again to steam all the time. You can imagine when you're totally exhausted, what you'll imagine that time is sleeping in order to rest your body.

    Alone in the Dark

It's not that I'm being a pussy and running away from them. In general, though. You have to say to yourself, "They're not interested in hearing this. Why continue?" Sometimes it felt good to lay out the truth. Then they just spout more crap about how it's not true, and this is just my opinions. But of course, if you provide evidence to the contrary and they're still not convinced despite what you just provided in front of their faces, they're just not going to listen to logic, no matter what you say. They even say smart alleck things like, "Alone in the Dark inspired RE, so Capcom copied that long before the recent games you mentioned!" Yeah. As if that's any excuse to blatantly copy all the games I told them they obviously had copied (with proof offered). You know? They seem to like to have an answer for every counter-productive post you leave. So that's why it's pointless to tell them what they will ignorantly continue to overlook. It's like you're standing there shouting at a brick wall, to be honest. Petulant school children.

  22. I was born, stitched together , sown ... just a mere Yellow Hat.. Cursed by this easily faded color, quickly damaged by greasy fingers... left in the closet 11 months a year until spring returned. As I faded... the darkness set and slowly changed me to a black hat I never forgot the abandonment.. Hopping head to head , thrift store to thrift store, homeless camp to shelter I would spread,,, spread my lice , coveting the scratching of all who wore me would endure. I believed in torture by kindness thus keeping their heads warm I would shed the unfathomable seed of itching sorrows..

  23. You also don't want to waste too much time in one division because competitive play for games outside of fighting games can often have several limitations. Several years ago, most of the COD tournaments in the Advanced Warfare era really just focused on one type of gameplay mode. Fighting games generally let you pick whoever you want, with whatever tools you want, and you're aloud to play any way you want. Some newer people might think that they can just cheese their way through an elite tournament with spamming but that doesn't work because fighting games are based on math and frame data. There's math involved in throwing out a fireball or projectile, for example, and all a pro has to do is know how to counter that math with better math and touch you one time with a full combo punish that could result in 40% damage or more each time they touch you just single time (depending on the fighting game). That means that someone could just open you up 2 or 3 times clean and your entire bar is gone, whether you try to spam or not. So in that sense spamming is generally welcomed in tournaments, but frowned down upon in certain circumstances as people are looking for a showcase of skill and its quite frankly easier to beat people with combos.

  25. $75 thousand dollars per year is more than an aircraft mechanic makes on average, and mid tier competitors are pretty easy to beat in some competitions. So if mid tier video game players are earning $75 grand a year for basically being in average territory, then they are over paid.

  26. The new WWE 2K games don't even come close to here comes the pain and some of the other games to follow. It's like night and day compared to hctp. Hctp has some of the best game modes, gameplay and more. I'm pretty sure they have GM mode that has more options than 2k22 does. If you've never played it, I highly recommend it. It's one of the best around. That and the smackdown vs raw series.

    Spyro the Dragon

Sometimes when I look at the way some of these big AAA games have taken us for a long ride without any regard, it would feel like let's bring back our old days with the early gen consoles. Only if we can go back in the past and relive it all over again.

    Zuma (video game)

I used to play this game a lot. It reminds me a lot of peggle in a way, which is another fun game where you shoot a ball to delete other balls on the screen. I really need to check both games out again.

  30. Saw a video of the beginning of the game and not sure I'm feeling it. The characters are kinda cringe and they say some cringey shit. I'm still interested in getting it eventually, just for the gameplay mostly, but I'm not really sure what to expect from this story. https://youtu.be/DSvX0KOdBWQ

  31. The thing with the switch and why it works so well, is because of Nintendo and their exclusives. Their first party titles. And of course their hybrid console that makes it easier to play all of your games on the go. I think if Nintendo just made another console with no gimmicks, it probably would have failed like the wii u did. But being hybrid helped a ton. Having a handheld and console in one was a game changer. But future consoles will obviously need to upgrade the hardware to at least come close to current or new gen consoles.

  32. Unfortunately I don't think those kinks could be worked out. You're eyes are facing a screen for hours on end, it's most likely going to cause eye strain at some point. I know looking at a TV screen or computer screen for a long time can be bad for your eyes, especially if it's blue light. If they made it possible to add options to protect your eyes, that would help, like with the night light option on windows to tint your screen a bit yellow to help stop blue light from bothering you. Some people can probably last longer in VR than others, but there will probably always be some eye strain due to playing long enough.

Those old video games are so classic that you still have a good sense of connection to it even after so many years of playing it when a discussion on it is brought up. If I lay my hands on PS1, and it's available, I'm playing it again.

    Spyro the Dragon

I remember playing it on a demo disc and briefly when I was at my nephew's house when he was a kid. He had a PS1 and a few games I didn't own, and we ended up playing some Spyro. I wouldn't mind getting all of the games and playing them all the way through.

    Alone in the Dark

The simple truth is that people will always believe what they want to believe and there is nothing you can do that is going to make them have their mind changed. The best thing you can do for yourself is to try as much as possible to focus on what really makes sense for you and ignore every other noise that comes with it. It is not only Capcom that have their fans fooled and blinded, I believe EA also have been perfect on that note with their fans.

  41. I don't know much about streaming, but I do know how quickly the novelty of lockdowns wore off, and now people are desperate for physical interaction. For example, no longer is D&D something just done over Roll20 and Discord and Twitch; people are buying physical box sets. Board games boomed in about 2017 and naturally would've halted unless they could be delivered to the house or played through Tabletop Simulator, but just today while out with my partner I've seen so many board games in stores that don't normally stock them like they do now (namely HMV, GAME, and Waterstones). So I definitely think it's mostly down to Covid restrictions being reduced. They've played their games, they've watched people play games and now they perhaps crave interaction in some form or another, physical or digital. It's all just guesses on my end, but I'm not surprised streaming has come down from its high. Thanks for sharing the article, it's an interesting read.

  44. It's not a wrong thought, but Nintendo switch is built for its own purpose and it's style and mode of operation is not going to be compatible with the kind of games that could be on PC. Let's see if there could something like that in the future.

  45. i just wish the switch lite was more capable of handling shooter games. it is very difficult to be competitive in a shooter game with a switch. for example pitting someone in fortnite with a switch lite with only 30 fps against someone on a pc with 300 fps.
